Corey Hirsch talking Canucks prospects after 2 games. - manvanfan
Interesting little article about Virtanen. I think everyone would agree he shouldn't have played his first year in the NHL, then last year he comes into camp overweight, hurts his shoulder in pre-season, gets sent down and has to lose the weight while Green tries to tear his game apart and rebuild it. Plus Green said he was "snake bitten", which is exactly what i saw the 4-5 games i watched. Virtanen was excellent, he hit 4 posts one game and was on a line with Wacey Hamilton and Carter Banks, not exactly the strongest trio. Also, intriguing to hear Bertuzzi laugh at the idea that he's a bust too, then compared himself to Jake. This year and even next are going to be huge for that kid. |

As long as Archibald is not the leading point/goal guy in Utica this year, that is all I care about. |

After his 9 games, he should have been sent down with a list of things to improve upon and accomplish in junior.
Being an NHL power forward is not easy. Learning to use your strength and speed is not something most kids know out of junior. We all know that.
For me, unless Virtanen knocks it out of the arena in pre-season, another half/full season in the AHL playing top minutes, PP time, even some PK time. Would be the best for him. Meaningful games in Utica is better then games in Van this year. |

I can't see that happening but who knows. Archibald really did have a good year, he got 16 games like 3 years ago and not a sniff ever since. Id rather see him get a call up rather than Gaunce, Megna or Chaput. He's big and rough and can score. I highly doubt it happens but it wouldnt be the end of the world. |

3 points in 16 games. Doubles that, he has the same amount of points as Brendan in less then half as many games. |

“My first love will always be LA. It’s one of the best organizations in all of sports, not just hockey. It’s unbelievable. They treat us first-class, and it’s a good place to play. Living in Los Angeles, you can’t beat it. I’d love to re-sign in L.A. But if our team isn’t going in the right direction… I want to win Cups. I don’t give a s— where I play. I just want to win Cups, and that’s the bottom line.”

Out of all the things that have been said by Jb or TL or TG this summer. The one that I can't seem to figure out. Gagner going to be tried out with the Sedin's. I really really don't understand it at all. It's boggling my mind. |

They're going to try everyone out with the twins.... Gagner and Vanek both, but we all know it's Megna's spot to lose. |

I don't think he likes the idea of playing in the spotlight (Canada) based on that same interview. |

LA can still be a pretty good team but can you imagine if Doughty and Tavares sign in Toronto. |

I don't think Jake is big enough to be a true power forward. He is only 6'1, 210. He needs to revamp his game into being a grinder that can chip in 10-15 goals per season. I still think he can be a solid 3rd liner if he can learn to work hard and not be p$ssy. |

Jamie Benn is 6'2, 210lbs. Lucic 6'3, Tom Wilson 6'4. I think he needs to do exactly what you mentioned above, be able to play a physical game, but also chip in 10-15 goals. |

Theoretically JV would need to be getting 2nd line minutes to eclipse 15 goals...and that doesn't appear to be happening anytime soon. |

If Bo scored 13 on the 4th line in his first full year, there is no way JV will get half of that playing the same minutes. He really has to prove he belongs in the top 6 in order to be effective |

Lucic and Wilson are thick, Jake is chubby. That's the difference. He is slighty above average for size. slightly. He needs to focus on his play with the puck and forechecking aggresively. Keeping it simple. |

Gabriel Landeskog, Boone Jenner, Wayne Simmonds, Brandon Saad.
Jarome Iginla, Shane Doan, Ryan Smyth, Scott Hartnell, Dustin Brown.
Look I can name a bunch of players too.
Not too mention that Lucic, Wilson don't play with the nearly the speed that JV has. |

I am simply using examples for Weight and Height in some other power forwards, wasn't trying to prove how many I can name... |
