Lucic and Wilson are thick, Jake is chubby. That's the difference. He is slighty above average for size. slightly. He needs to focus on his play with the puck and forechecking aggresively. Keeping it simple.
- CanuckDon

I think Jake has trimmed down quite a bit though. I am hoping he has regained some of his speed. The dude was insanely chubby last summer. Lucic is such a terrible skater, Wilson is a pretty decent skater. If Jake can turn into a 3rd line Tom Wilson, I would be happy.

I'm not sure it's the physical attributes that hinder JV, it's the mental side that will slow his progress. For a guy 210-215lbs he moves feet way better then Lucic and Wilson. If he can learn to read and react quickly and get himself in the right spots defensively he will be a solid asset to Van. From what I see, he looks like he thinks too much out there instead of just naturally reacting.

I am simply using examples for Weight and Height examples in some other power forwards, wasn't trying to prove how many I can name...
- Codes1087

My point was there are a lot of power forwards in the NHL, they come in different shape and sizes.

so you were essentially reiterating what I was saying in naming 2 other power forwards with two different weights and heights? much appreciated

Yeah, you named 3 larger players then JV. Then agreed he should become a grinder. Which to most would mean you don't feel like he is big enough to be a power forward. So I named a bunch of players that have been and are considered power forwards in the league. (not by me but by many articles that I goggled). All the players I named are close in height and weight as JV. Not sure how I helped your case. But Ok.

I think it's time to put that subject to bed. No need to discuss it any further. Let's accept it and move on.

I would make a joke how a few inches doesn't make a huge difference, but I feel like I should be more mature. My point is that a few inches in height doesn't matter. If you can skate, you can hit, and you can pot more than 15 goals, you are doing ok as far as power forwards go.

Hey, this is the SUV I'm thinking of getting Mazda CX 9:

I have two other possibilities in the price range I want. Toyota Highlander or Kia Sorento. All 7 passenger and V6 AWD.

Thoughts?

Mazda seems like a safe pick. I'm hearing Toyota's quality ratings have really been dipping and customer treatment/satisfaction as well. Buddy of mine leased a brand new Tacoma here last year and has nothing but issues with it especially with recalls. He is not happy with the responses and services.

Don't know much about the KIA.

Never had an issue with Toyota, at least here in Maple Ridge, all my cars I've ever bought were from them and my next one will likely be a Highlander or Sienna. Mazda's are ok, but they are service intensive if you intend to drive long distances constantly. KIA's are cheap, that's about all I can say for them.

I've had a Prius for 10+ years now, love it, my gas bill is like $40 every week and a half and I drive from Maple Ridge to Richmond for work 5 days a week. I have no complaints.

Ya my Dad has an '09 Tundra which has just been outstanding. KIA's are cheaper yes but I have somewhat heard they have gotten a bit better depending on the model.

If he can score 15 goals while being a physical presense and not being fat enough where he can barely skate, he could be a successful power forward. Who said anything about a grinder?

Yah, my original price range was $45K and the CX9 does fall just inside that mark but I'm looking to get bigger rims (from 18" to 20") and a few extra bells and whistles that will put it over that mark.

I'm walking in with cash so I'm hoping to save a bit on the deal.

All three vehicles I listed score really high with the various car & truck reviewers but now some have got me concerned with the Highlander. It ain't pretty but it's a beast of an SUV in that price range.

The Sorento surprised me but Kia has basically loaded as much features into the base price as possible. It's crazy what they give you standard that others charge for. It's a sharp looking SUV but it's still a Kia and that makes me nervous.

We test drove the Rav 4 Hybrid. Kills all competitors on gas, but if one of the batteries ever goes, its like 5 grand to replace. Quickly lose out on all the money you saved on gas to replace one of those. Problem is they also have 2 of those batteries in the car, and both are ridiculous to replace.

We looked at KIA/Hyundai but felt the re-sale value was pretty small given their history. Both have made huge strides though in their cars/suvs

It's Jakes frame though...Bo has a power forwards build, Jake does not. That is my point. Also, his shoulder issues appear to be a problem as well
