I think Horvat is a good player, I was just pointing out that in your haste to throw criticism at Sedin, you chose the wrong person as best player which was actually Horvat by two points.
- Makita

I didn't even mention the Sedins. Your haste to think I was referring only to them is where you are wrong. Edler will soon have an expiring contract as will Rodin Gudbrandson Baertschi

Alrighty then, I obviously misunderstood this quote "It is not hard to figure out that if your best player finishes that low , your team will suck."

My mistake thinking you were thinking Sedin, when in fact you were meaning Horvat.

When he played with the Twins all three players were struggling and WD was throwing mud at the wall and hoping it could stick.

I seriously only remember him playing with sophomore Bo who only put up 40 points that year less than 10 games.

I know he played with McCann and Burrows and Higgins and Prust but I really don't remember long stretches of Bo Sven JV

- VANTEL

Perhaps this info is incorrect. But I find it is generally pretty accurate. I don't recall him playing with either Higgins or McCann much but he definitely spent a bunch of time with Burrows and Sutter.

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty walked back comments made earlier about potentially leaving the Kings. Initially, Doughty told the Hockey News that he just wanted to win Stanley Cups and that he didn’t care where he played. Today, he clarified those comments by saying he only wants to win a Cup in Los Angeles. Doughty has two more years left on his deal before he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
- manvanfan

He was told to say that, the way he really feels was reflected in his initial comments

I said he had plenty of opportunities with talented linemates after you suggested his struggles were attributed to playing with Chaput and Skille and that he didn't get a chance to play with Sven and Bo.

I then showed you the actual numbers....these are not fancy stats just plain old boring numbers which don't support your narrative. If you don't like it take it up with your eyes.

I'm not singling out Jake, I've states many times I think he is and will be a good complimentary player.

Regardless of how I felt about him during his draft year, it's still disappointing Benning selected him over some other really good players. You (not you personally) can claim hindsight all you want, but that doesn't take any of the sting away.

Yup, it wasn't my first choice but I understood his reasoning and his desire to get a top 6 player with grit. I'm more dissatisfied with the first couple years of "development" than the actual pick.

True

As much as I dislike Dim Jim Benning as a GM, I do feel he's getting better at his job. That said, I firmly believe they wasted the first two years of his tenure trying to compete when they had no business doing so.

I agree, this past TDL and offseason I've been really happy with him although I do partially pin Tryamkin leaving on him. Fair or not, a GM is responsible for managing his players.

I'm not saying he should of given Tree whatever he wanted or can even claim I understand what caused him to go but, he was one the players I was most interested in watching develop. Hopefully he come back.

Jimbo loved Tryamkin. I'm sure he did all he could but i agree that it's ultimately his responsibility.

The coach works for the GM, he definitely has a say in how they developed Tryamkin and his ice-time or deployment. So IMO he clearly shares some responsibility in his departure.

Water under the bridge I guess...

That's utter bs. Tryamkin leaving had zero to do with Benning. He was hated in the dressing room and hated by the coaching staff. Benning treated him with kid gloves.

Edit. Technically the coach was employed by Benning so he deserves critism for hiring the wrong guy. But he went over the top trying to keep the kid happy. Only so much a GM can do when a player isn't welcome in the dressing room

How many games did JV play with 40 pt Bo and 33 point Sven eight games or nine?
- VANTEL

Excuses, excuses and excuses.

Bo and Sven earned their top 6 roles, they didn't sulk and stop giving it 100% when they were forced to earn their spots. Sven was sent down to the AHL and was Utica's best player. Bo was started in the bottom 6 by WD and forced WD to play him more and more. If Jake is such a baby and needs to be coddled and can only produce if playing with 1st liners then he's not very good.

If this guy is as good as you say he is, he should be making AHL'ers look bad, even if he's playing with scrubs.

Stop make excuses for Virtanen just because he's a powerforward. We all want him to succeed but this is on him. He's been out of shape, our partying, taking shifts/nights off by barely even skating unless he had the puck.

You're quick to point out when the Sedins don't back check but yet you're making excuses for this this kid?

I feel the same about Gudbransen.
- thundachunk

Again if he's a legit top 4 dman he should have made Hutton look better than he is, clearly both of them suck unless carried by a legit top 4 dman like Gudbranson was by Campbell and Hutton was with Tanev when he finally started looking decent at the end of the season. Anyone who watches the games could see this.

This team does not support each other at all , that is the biggest reason people want to push the trash out the door.
- VANTEL

I want a team with a strong back bone as much as anyone, but....

A couple of extra fights ever months isn't going to make Gudbranson and Virtanen better at ice hockey.

Doesn't matter if you don't remember, the numbers don't lie.

He played with 40 point Bo and put up 13 points himself. Damn, Bo really held him back....

Its when they fight & why.
Picking their spots & standing up for teammates rather than fighting to fight.
Timing is key and sending the message we won't be pushed around.

As for TOI it's still earned & fighting alone is only a small part of it.

Exciting that Pettersson, Dahlen, Gaudette, Lockwood, Jasek, Abols, Gunnarsson, Rathbone, Zhukenov, Palmu all didn't play in the prospects tourney.

Need a 4th line that will throw a few more hits. White and Upshall would bring a much more physical side then Megna and Chaput. A lot more experience as well.

Don't remember seeing Bo or Sven at A&W 3 times per day either.
