OJ's pivoting is really poor for a prospect of his stature. Hopefully gets that sorted out because right now it's too easy to get by him when he's skating backwards.

Once he gets that cleaned up, I suspect that people will like his game a lot better.

He's looking much better today. I wish he would carry the puck more as he's got slick hands.

Everyone on the Comets didn't stand out

I could see Carcone potentially developing into a really solid AHL player who gets called up when injuries hit.

I did like Archibald on the Comets last year.

Realistically, his upside is a good organizational depth player who is very good in the AHL and can play NHL games in a pinch when injuries hit. If he becomes Dorsett, that'd be a great surprise.

Doubt that will ever happen, it's just not his game. He does carry it up once in awhile, but he prefers to pass the puck, usually looks for a stretch pass(which he's pretty good at). He doesn't mind handling the puck on the PP though.

Archie is a lifer Comet. He did nothing on Canucks which is too bad

We're live with the second period, and the Canucks continue to control play.

Johnny Corneil gets shot No. 17 after the PP comes to an end.

Yeah likely a career AHL'er, but back in 13/14 when he last played on the Canucks he wasn't as good as he was last year. He took a nice step forward last year, apparently was the team's best player.

Nice forecheck by Chatfield leads to another flurry, and an Edmonton penalty.

The Oilers have two shorthanded breakaways to start the penalty kill.

Justin Bourne of The Athletic wrote a bit about Archibald last week in a piece on the Canucks prospects. At 27, he is probably an AHL lifer but he said Archibald is a total pain to play against. The Marlies players hate him.

Btw, The Athletic is a great site. Pretty much every article written is insightful. I'm very interested to see how they do as a business with their model.

Gadjovich gets in behind the Oilers D and draws a penalty.

Shoulda been a penalty shot!

GOAL!

On their ninth shot of the game, the Oilers narrow the lead to 2-1.

Edmonton passes the puck around the perimeter until their captain Joe Gambardella hammers it home.

Give Chad Butcher another assist. He has been money in this tournament.

Tie game!

With 8:23 to play in the second, it's 2-2 after Ziyat Paigin unloads with a huge one-timer from the high slot.

I picked out a second player with an A for the Canucks. It's Guillaume Brisebois.

There should be one more out there somewhere...

Since I got heat for quoting myself yesterday, I'll put this in a separate message.

The third A today is being worn by Danny Moynihan, who's centering the fourth line.

Playing on an AHL contract, he had 52 points for Alaska last year in the ECHL.

GOAL!

The Oilers take their first lead of the game as Gambardella follows up on the play for his second straight goal, picking the up garbage after Cole Candella committed to checking Chad Butcher.

Edmonton 3 - Vancouver 2

Shots are now 29-13 Vancouver with just over three minutes to play in the second.

Lots of line juggling by Trent Cull during this second period.

I don't think any forwards are missing...
