I've seen Osterle's name mentioned...my take on him is two fold
-It's bad that he couldn't crack the Oil lineup at D
-It's good that he fell out of favor with the Oil (see Shultz, Justin) - kwolf68
Oiler fans seemed to like him and did not like it when the team let him get away. |

And many, far better, players were jettisoned in the past that no doubt certain players loved to play with. To bend over backward for Tutu makes no sense. If he moves on the world will keep turning and 2 and 7 will have good years. I find it mildly amusing that 2 maybe had his worst year ever with Tutu in camp. I am sure the injury excuse will be peddled, but Tutu is nothing anymore. At one time he could agitate and chip in on offense. If he's that important to team morale (though i doubt it) let him do something else other than taking a spot from a better, more deserving player. - kwolf68
For sure, but those guys were cut loose for salary cap reasons and that is not an issue with Tootoo (cap hit = $700,000). Keeping Keith and Seabrook happy isn't the only reason Tootoo is on the team. Like it or not Q like's having a tough guy on the team, and Tootoo fills that role well. Also, the team needs a "team guy" who will happily be the 13th or 14th forward and play ~40 games per season. Last year Tootoo showed he is willing to embrace that role.
Don't get me know, if other guys prove more valuable to the team I have no issue with the club sending him to Rockford or trading him. But he does bring something to the team while he's here. |

IIRC, it's rumored that Oesterle was a favored free agent because he can play either LD or RD. |

Moving on to Blackhawk news outside of the current rostered players, I have to wonder how old #21 Stash is getting by. He is in a home because he cannot take care of himself. His wife put him in there. He has embarrassing moments, but one moment I understand is when he hunched over and wants to take face offs. Oh how the mighty may fall. He is a great guy, such a tragic ending. I don't know how long he will last. While Stan is out of our sight, he is not out of our minds.....our thoughts and prayers go out to him.
Maybe when appropriate JJ will run a column wherein everyone can recollect their favorite Mikita memory, I am just bringing this up because with the start of the hockey season I am saddened by a lady's daughter (landlord) whom is dieing now.
I hope Bobby Hull is doing ok, btw. He lived a hard life, a good life with its good times on ice some rough times off ice. What a great couple of elderly former great hockey players we can be proud to have cheered for and enjoyed all they brought to Blackhawk nation. |

It's why your a canes fan. I would quit watching hockey a couple years ago if I had to watch your team. Those who played hockey or any physical sport know the importance of having someone to watch your back and help fight your battles. I hate the new new nhl fans. - vandymeer23
I took care of my own business when I played like a grown adult. And I'm not a big guy. |

Yes, beating multiple wives and girlfriends and saying hitler 'had some good ideas' is good life and good times... The sooner they get that bozo away from the camera and the organization the better.

Alright while you make a point and evidence supports it, this site i believe is for the purpose not to tear down the players. We do not need to comment on it farther.....the administrator can determine what is proper. I choose to relish his on ice accomplishments and I hope he straightened out anything off ice. Which is his business and I do not care to hear more about that side of his life. I am not saying your comment couldn't be said, but let's move on from it. So, did Al McInnis or anyone shoot harder than Bobby. |

Looking at the cap for the 1st game of the season before the Hossa LTIR, mathematically it seems like one of Gus or Oesterle will be in the bottom pairing being at $650k and they'll send Berube and his $700k down to be cap compliant since we're over $35k right now. Unless I'm missing something. |

Wow........ you guys both really think that Debrincat is ready to make that big jump to the NHL already ?? I'm not a believer yet until I see how he fares through the preseason at least for goodness sakes. If he can, boy it would sure solve some scoring issues with the top 6 and add some punch to the PP. It's obvious he has the shot and the finesse to score, it's the 200 ft game that will be in question and if Q will give him time to learn on the job. Kinda doubt it myself. As far as the other lines go..... I personally would like to see John Hayden make that next step as this team needs his size and hitting abilities. He also showed signs of a nice shot last year as well. Hope he has a good camp and makes an impression. Jurco ??? Really ??? Let's see what he's got in preseason. Time to put show up kid.

I'm just having fun with line combos and put together the smallest second line I could think of.
I have posted many times that I am taking a wait-and-see approach with Debrincat and all the other rookies. A few guys really stepped up at the rookie tournament, but I don't think that means they will all make the jump to the NHL in October. Throughout the season I would expect the likes of Debrincat and Hayden to get a call up, the only question is will they be able to stay with the big club. |

Out of all the rookie forwards Hayden and Fortin are at the top of my list of who I would like to see make the team (could be just one, doesn't have to be both). The Hawks need the type of forward Hayden can be. Ideally, Hayden and Debrincat both excel and make the team, but that may be a long shot. |

with Hayden I look at him as a 4th liner. IMO so if he makes the team out of camp that means some of tootoo, wingels, bouma have not looked good and are getting sent to the Rock. My guess is Tootoo, bouma, wingels in that order. More then likely the only one that could get sent down before the 1st game in tootoo. IMO |

My only neg on Hayden with Kane is can he score? I'd like to see Kane avoid double teams and/or cheating defenses. |

Darth must be getting Scott Powers' tweets. Powers mentioned in one "based on Hawks Team A roster, there is a possibility for Cat/Schmaltz/Kane line in the first scrimmage later this morning".

I think people are undervaluing Wingels for this team. Guy can play all 3 forward spots, gritty player, plays both ends. He's not 1-dimensional like the other two chumps you mentioned. I watched him a lot out here with the Sharks and was severely miscasted in Ottawa a la Dale Weise |
