Good morning,

I've got the schedule for today's camp sessions as well as a look ahead at who might be going where once the games begin.

Also, Travis Green says nice things about Virtanen and not-so-nice things about Jordan Subban as they boys try to keep their breakfasts in their bellies after some high-paced on-ice work.

It's your opinion of what I have stated in the past? Strange
- CanuckDon

No. My opinion is that you are being pompous because you are taking your opinion as fact.

In regards to Jake:

I honestly have no idea what to do with the kid. You are right, who can play with a north south player that lacks creativity? Because of his lack of offensive awareness I think he is destined to be a bottom 6 player.
- CanuckDon

I don't think Jake is big enough to be a true power forward. He is only 6'1, 210. He needs to revamp his game into being a grinder that can chip in 10-15 goals per season. I still think he can be a solid 3rd liner if he can learn to work hard and not be p$ssy.
- CanuckDon

I have a player like that on my beer league team and I refuse to play with him
- CanuckDon

It's Jakes frame though...Bo has a power forwards build, Jake does not. That is my point. Also, his shoulder issues appear to be a problem as well

Sorry I'm getting a negative Virt vibe from you. I must be mistaken.

Seems foolish to peg a 20 year old top 10 draft pick as a bust, given he's only played 2 seasons of professional hockey.
- Crazybagoham

A bust would be if Virtanen doesn't have a meaningful career. If he carves out a niche as a gritty 2 way forward that can chip in 10 goals per season that's not a bust. It would be a poor pcik at 6th overall but not a bust in my opinion.

Negative I suppose, but dont pertend I have said or insinuated that he is destined to be a minor league player because that's bs. I just don't see him as a top 6 player. big difference champ

I would put a 100 dollars up that says he never gets to 20 points and he ends up a third pairing guy because he's just not that good.
- LeftCoaster

He's not there to get points. Tanev not getting 20 points is a problem...Gudbranson is not.

This just isn't even close to being factual. I am not sure where to start Do I think he was drafted too high? Of course I do. Everyone does. Do I think he is destined to be a minor league player? Frank no. I have never said that. Is he entitled? yes. can he change? It looks like he is certainly trying. I have been saying for the last year that he could carve our a career as a really useful 3rd liner I just have trouble projecting his as a top 6 forward based on what he has demonstrated so far.

It's tough for me to debate with you when you make sh!t up. Cut it out. Or don't, I don't really care

Yes... Yes.. let the hate flow strongly through your veins, allow it to consume you and prepare you for the coming of the loathsome one...

Champ?

You are calling him a bottom 6 grinder who can "chip in" some goals are you not?

You said he has limited skills, lacks vision, lacks true size and power, and would have to change his game to be successful as a bottom 6 forward. If what you state is true then what makes him stand out from 500 other NHL eligible players? Nothing does.

Bottom 6 grinders who pot in 10 goals are fringe NHLers for (frank) sakes. You have to agree with that right? Is that not a veiled commentary on his ability as a meaningful NHLer?

Virtanen has decent size, a solid shot and he is a greater skater. He has enough tools to be a strong bottom 6 player. Bottom 6 players are extremly important. Just look at the Penguins cup run

But still that doesn't separate him from so many other fringe players. I think you are not giving him enough time to demonstrate what he can become.

I was encouraged with his rookie NHL season stats and don't know why he can't progress from there other than maybe some old school NHL bullpoop code on young developing players.

Were you not encouraged by his rookie season numbers? His second 10 game stint didn't go well but the whole team stunk then so Virt wasn't unique in that situation.

15 points a season. I'll take it. 3.75 for 6 years.
