Remember you idiots when Strome puts up insane points playing with God that you didn't win the trade!

Whether or not we win our side of the trade is entirely dependent upon the contract he signs this next year. If he posts solid numbers in the range of 40-50 points playing the mirror man to Draisaitl (switching between RW and C) and signs for somewhere in the avenue of 3.5 to 4.5mil then I'd say we won our side of the deal.

To achieve this, I'd personally run him with Draisaitl and Lucic on the 2nd line and in the Letestu spot on the 2nd PP unit. Leon's best success has come with a linemate that's faster than him to push defenders back and open up space for him to do his thing and he can take over for Letestu on the 1PP once his contract is signed.

On New York's side, if Eberle consistently plays and produces with Tavares to the tune of around 60-70 points and contributes to the Isles reaching the playoffs then they'll have won their side of the deal. If he's a factor in Tavares resigning as wel then that's just gravy for them.

I'm more concerned with Nuge's faceoff percentage than his lack of scoring. He had brutal line mates last year, and a poor shooting percentage. His faceoffs must get better for him to remain on this team though.

Sucks cause he's pretty much for suredly gone next offseason regardless of what happens this season.
Hope we can achieve some success before another purposeful trade loss for cap savings

On pure value I probably wouldn't hesitate.
But the thing is it doesn't save all that much cap. Which will be the whole point of dealing nuge after those deals pc handed out.
And even less so when faulks due for a raise soon.

Ya I'm still very puzzled as to why Chiarelli negotiated Connor's contract before Leon's. It was a very stupid move. Leon's number should have been a lot less, but it was impossible to do after giving Connor what they did. McDavid's contract I don't mind.

Only if he wants it. In reality, he'll probably let McDavid lead the team in points, because that's just the type of person he is.

Well said.

Pc did mention that he had been at leons deal for awhile, but still, he added a mil + to leons number by doing Connors first. Bad business.
8.5 in comparison to what some comparables got is silly.

If he averages a point under 70 over the contract, it's awful for us

Yotes get demers.
Basically built a quality defence in one summer from nothing

Oel
Hjalmarsson
Demers
Goligoski

And a quality young defender in chycrun

I don't see it happening. He looks like Joe Thornton when he was younger to me with those sick back hand passes and the way he's learning to use his body to create space.

While we're on the subject, what are everyone's expectations for offensive production for the regular players given whatever role you assume they'll be in? For simplicity, prorate the total to 82 games.

McDavid- 100
Draisaitl- 70
Lucic- 55
Nuge- 50
Klefbom- 45
Strome- 40
Maroon- 35
Jokinen- 35
Sekera- 30*
Puljujarvi- 30
Slepyshev- 25
Benning- 25*
Caggiula- 20
Larsson- 20
Nurse- 20
Russell- 15

* dependent on Benning's effectiveness on the 2PP and the length of Sekera's absence

For clarity, these aren't my predictions. I have my beliefs that- for one reason or another- certain players will exceed (McDavid and Klefbom) or fall short (Nuge, Nurse and Draisaitl) of these expectations.

- MaximumBone

So the $$$line will give you guys 225 points. You want to hope that is spread over 82 & not hitting big numbers in single games. Going to be a blitzkrieg!! (See what I did there......)

I'm expecting the yotes to at least play meaningful games during this season. Might even see then challenge the #2-4 spots if everything goes perfectly right, however, I don't think they will get their due until next season. They have a lot of rookies in the overall system that might need another season of seasoning or development, whether in the NHL or not.

Adding in Stepan helps though. Removal of Tippett too. Honestly, if the yotes make it into the playoffs somehow, I could see Chakya winning the GM of the year award. Other than that, I see then realistically reaching the 4-6 spot in the division. Their X-factor is going to be their offense and possibly Raanta.

I see him as a young Kopitar. Similar playing styles imo.

Smith is in Calgary. They're rocking a Louis Domingue, and Antti Raanta duo in net. Not very promising

Fixed it! XD
But yeah, Raanta could be a possible X-factor, but nonetheless, the yotes defense should make it an easier job for the tandem in net. If Raanta can snatch some games for the yotes, they could possibly see themselves in a wild card spot if everything aligns perfectly.

What the yotes should expect is Raanta to hold his own. If he can do that and nothing more, then it's all on the coyotes offense to be the difference maker.
