Yup, Holm and Subban were by far the worst in my opinion - CanuckDon
I was at the game with my boy (his first game ever) and I thought Holm started strong, look composed but buckled as the game wore on.
I've been hard on Subban and his defensive game was mediocre at best, but damn, his skillset is unmatched on this team - you can't teach his skills.
After seeing the game, I'd love for the Canucks to give him some minutes this season. If he could ever make progress on his defensive side of the game, he'd be a steal...
Boeser is in a league of his own, the kid better start in Vancouver. He's got 30 goals written all over him this season.... |

Just read the blog now CS . Good stuff. I thought Holm would struggle to be an AHL Dman .
I expect big things from Chatfield this year I expect him to be the stud of the comets and I think Stewart will also be good for the comets this year. - VANTEL
I love how you admit that you were too hasty on Cederholm but double down on Stewart. Good story and all for Stewart and he looked a bit better in the youngsters as he should of it was his 4th time there I think.
I really doubt we see much of Stewart in Utica this year.
Chatfield, Subban, McEnemy, Biega, Pedan, Holm, Brisbois, Sautner, Sifers and CederHolm are all ahead of him in the AHL imo. |

Isn't Cedarholm in Sweden?
Beiga will be with the Canucks
He could surpass Sautner and who the hell is Sifers |

I doubt Subban ever will be a good defender. I think the bigger question is can he become good enough offensively for a coach to ignore his deficiencies. All the defenders looked bad last game, and I'm sure all would look better in a more structured game but Subban at least has something to offer that the rest don't.

I had forgotten CederHolm went back, I was thinking he was in The ECHL still. If Biega makes then Weircioch is in Utica I think. Sifers is an AHL lifer brought in to provide depth.

Who said I wasn't? I don't see him as a Dman but I can see him as a third line winger and a point man on the PP
I don't think Canucks like him though
I also thnk he would be very good on the shoot out . He would be better than Boucher or Rodin |

Thats a bit short-sighted. There isn't a team in the NHL who wouldn't expect a defensive prospect to know how to play D first........especially at that size.... |

Perhaps but i think they have more to lose sending one of their bubble forwards at this point. Injuries might make this whole conversation moot but I would like to see Benning be able to go after some waiver scraps. Take advantage of those first dibs.
Maybe we can get Sbisa back |

I don't know why people are all excited because Subban scored a lucky goal, he was dreadful yesterday. I was row 5 and keeping a close eye on Subban, Juolevi, Lind, Virt and Boeser. He can't handle an NHL pass and is a trainwreck in his own end. He also made multiple bad pinches. Kid needs to be converted to wing or he is a lifer in the AHL. |

I don't think anyone is excited, but that wasn't a " lucky goal". Give him credit where it was due, it was a nice move and nice finish.
I don't like idea of converting to a winger but I agree he isn't close to good enough in his own end. McEnemy was the best of the bunch yesterday imo and he looked bad at times, it was an ugly game all around. |

Kesler is still one of my favorite Canucks.
It was a tough spot for JB but at the end of the day it wasn't a great return. I blame Gillis more than Benning though for not getting a good enough return.
I agree with Vantel's original statement, Granlund has been the only clear win as far as trades go when just looking at players.
I do think the Burrows trade also should be seen as a win regardless of how the prospect turns out. - belcherbd
I like Kesler as a hockey player, but what can you do if a guy doesn't want to play for your team? Look at Duchene/ Avs right now, I would bet a lot of money that Avs will have sell short on him this season.
To be honest ( I know its too soon to tell), I hate the Hansen trade, Goldobin hasn't impressed me at all so far and I love me some Jannick Hansen |

well, we would have 100% lost him for nothing to Vegas. We got Goblin and Rathbone for Hansen. Hopefully Rathbone is a legit prospect |

Boeser, Burmistrov (during the first game), Virtanen and Juolevi have all impressed me so far.
Subban/Holm are the main reason they let in 9 goals imo, they were definitely playing offensive hockey
A couple more years in the minors and Subban might be pretty good, he is only 22, maybe when he hits 25 it will all click, in the meantime we have a depth guy/ PP guy for the minors. Glad to see Subban actually do something. |
