You can do all that stuff here. And you can snowboard instead of surf. Yeah, there's more sun out there than here. But each location has their merits. We all know your alternative lifestyle fits California very well, but you're preaching to (mostly) the wrong crowd.

Hate to break it to you, but pools exist in Buffalo. As do hot tubs. Oh, and girls. There plent of women here in Buffalo. The bars here are open til 4am, so lots of party environments.

We also have beaches (not for surfing, but lots of boating opportunities during the nice months).

Oh, and we don't get devastating earthquakes, wildfires, and our traffic isn't atrocious. The cost of living is a ton better as well. I don't need over $1M to buy a 900 sq ft house.

Do us all a favor and stay in Cali.

I left when I was 21 and moved to Philly, I was back in Buffalo in a year.

Buffalo has a lot more to offer than people give credit for. Sure it isn't Vegas with the night life but really what places really are besides LA, NYC, and Miami?

I'm an avid sailor on the lake, and heading up to the canoe club (crystal beach) for a day and sail back is pretty fun. Ever go on a wine tour? Those are a blast. There are festivals everywhere in Buffalo. Pub crawls. Every ride a bike before? Well, heading out on multiple trails to get around Buffalo is pretty fun too. Do you fish, well we're surrounded by water. Let me just add boating over to grass island and hanging with a bunch of fellow boaters. The internet, heard of it? Using the local guide search feature in Google is really nice. Playing for a bar league hockey team, like my guys just did last night was pretty fun. But hayyy wading out 30 feet into the ocean is much better.

Most importantly, all the girls come here for school. If you're a good looking guy, what's the problem?

I totally agree with this.

I don't know, but in my opinion, I had more fun going on adventures with my friends to places like Allegany, Ellicottville, etc.

And taking road trips to other places since in terms of driveability, Buffalo has a lot of options there. (Boston, NYC, the Adirondaks, etc).
