Poor 1st period, sloppy play by many of the forwards....and yet we still get a goal and put up 18 SOG.

That 3rd line with Sharp and Anisimov is going to be HUGE for us this year IMO. Gives us a 3rd line that can consistently score which is something we haven't had since arguably the Bickell-Shaw-Stalberg line in 2013.

The key for me is Schmaltz. If he keeps up this level of play then that allows all these other pieces to fall in place, mainly AA to 3C. I think we can get away with interchanging and rotating options at 2LW and 3RW until the playoffs hit, again, as long as 8 keeps playing the way he is.

In the preseason so far...I think I've counted 4 or 5 from Keith on the left hand half boards over to Kane and all of them have missed or have been tipped so Kane can't get it clean. Time for an adjustment.

I can't stop thinking about this Duchene for Hartman+ trade. Maybe I'm wrong about only wanting a defenseman....idk...

I mean...a top 6 of Saad-Toews-Panik, Schmaltz-Duchene-Kane just looks so delicious on paper and would be INCREDIBLE on the ice IMO. With Fortin, Hayden, DeBrincat, etc. we would still have plenty of options to play 3RW with Sharp and AA.

Gotta wait and see how things play out i guess, I'll be changing my mind again if the 12-8-88 trio gets a goal or 2

these refs didn't get the memo about calling everything or they think this is a playoff game

It is hard to be too upset with the score so far, with the shots being 31-14 and with the Jackets blocking 4 times a many shots so far (16-4). The story of this one is difference in goaltending. The Jackets playing a few more youngsters I think, but this hasn't been a bad preseason outing overall.
