7 D make $7.5m+
Idk how 7.5m for EG ever happens nor where ALL top 2 D get 7.5m. Somebody explain this for me pls. Thx - Nighthawk
Every year, the average annual salary (AAS) of players goes. Same goes for all subsets of players such as dmen, the AAS for d has risen by about 1.5-2 million over the past 10 years (3 is now about the average). All sports are susceptible to this inflation, when you have a salary cap it slows it down but it will still have to grow as revenues have to continue to grow for the NHL to exist and players will demand a greater share, ect. |

He will most likely be bought out when the CBA opt out kicks in - Redmile247
I agree. I think in a perfect world we are able to trade him instead, but agree it's unlikely. I do honestly think he will do better this year. Like I said 20 goals, 50 points. |

FYI
Adding to my earlier post...
62nd Top D salary is $4.37m therefore an EG IF a top 2 D one day is less paid than our own Edler & Tanev. He be retired way before 62 D has inflation pay them all $7.5m |

CHL is so watered down for guys that are probably at a level above ...CHL is smart to have this rule or all their top end talent would be elsewhere - Redmile247
Move the draft to 19 and allow each team only a certain amount of players 20 and under. |

If he has a good year and the cap goes up I think you actually could trade him . |

Never happen
It's a good idea ...but your taking one year of earnings away from every player in tbe union ...that's a tough sell |

A percentage of the cap is used for newer contracts. Crazy that McDavid's deal is only about 1.5% more then Crosby's. Yet it's 3.5 million more per year. |

Also would be one horrible draft year if that were implemented. Result in no tanking for one whole season with Tanking being everything the following year 😂😂 |

There has been a lot of talk about it going to 19. Draft would also be less of a crap shoot. Almost takes the fun out of it. |

Big signing bonuses - Nighthawk
Yeah crazy McDavid is getting 12 and 13 million dollar a year signing bonuses. I don't really like the idea. If they aren't playing, they shouldn't be getting paid. I don't get paid if my union goes on strike. |

Lots of talk but unless the players get something substantial in return it won't happen |

So by your comparison benning will be forced to give granlund 7 mill per for 6 years
Good luck with that 😉 - Redmile247
I don't know why the hell Treliving gave Gaudreau so much . It is ridiculous . I would have asked why do you need so much money ? You eat Happy meals and get your clothes at Gap for Kids!!!

Idk about that but Treliving needs a calculator for Xmas or a bean counter like Gilman. Go with the calculator its cheaper.

The organization no doubt gets to save somehow by taking that risk. Ultimately, it`s a contract for the best player in a sport, I`m not surprised at all it`s lucrative. Think back to sid`s first deal... Conner will make closer to 15 at this rate |
