I'd be little surprised if;
A.) Rozy plays again, and
B.) Franson doesn't make the team
Q likes his vets, and I'm thinking its a vet with a youngin'
Keith - Murph
Seabs - Kempny
Franson - Rutta/Forsling/Pokka/Snuggy/Sveddy.
Think it is wise to follow Wiz's logic, and look at who can be sent down and not need to clear waivers.
Don't be shocked if your 5-6-7 to start the year aren't Franson, Pokka and Svedberg. |

I could see Rutta sent down and brought back up at some point. I think Sveddy gets sent down regardless.
Pokka got the glowing review from Q after the game and I also thought he played well. If he's able to do it again in the next couple preseason games I could see him staying up and splitting time with Franson on the right side.

Agreed, Svedburg has very little chance of making this team but they may keep him around until NHL team rosters are mostly set to minimize the chance of him being claimed.
Colorado will claim any defenceman in the league who they think can play.
Unless there is a deal already in place, Franson still has to agree to a salary number. He is one guy I wouldn't overpay, especially if Rutta and Pokka are close in capability.

in my no nothing opinion hossa LTIR cap $$ go toward a solid 4-5 dman...not a duchene type gunslinger..lets hope the league does not pull some BS and claim hossa can play...
hawks might have some depth forward and young dman prospect available for trade |

Great write up JJ, always look forward to your objective insight.
Ruuta has looked great to me considering this is his first NHL experience, reminds me a bit of a younger Seabrook from a physical standpoint, swapping some of Seabs physicality for more speed. I think the biggest thing for Rutta is he needs to play often and the NHL might not be the best place for him to start.
There is no way Franson is not making this team given what we know about Q. Make no mistake, Franson is better than Rozy.
How has Gustaffson looked to everyone? He's looked okay to me considering I haven't noticed him.
Forsling still seems a bit tentative in his own end, looks a little weak.
One also has to wonder if the Blackhawks don't package some of these D-men together for a Duchene offer.

In my eyes, Ruta has looked solid and more acclimation to the NA game, he should only get better. Seems like Hawks are doing what the Penguins have done the past two years ......... not spectacular defensemen, but good enough but lots of forward depth |

Mornin' John...nice writeup as always. I think Rutta if not starting with the big club will be back quickly.
I also think Franson is on the roster with Q's trust of veterans. We'll see what Murphy becomes, but right now you're going to miss Hammer bigtime at the start of the season here.
Thought Hayden looked solid last night and liked the push back he gave
Columbus at the start of the game.
In response to some earlier comments before the new blog was up. Sharp is indeed looking good - that floater to AA last night was a beaut. Be interesting to see where ADB fits in. Or if he starts at the Rock.
It's nice to watch the kids develop, but if you're still thinking a cup right now I would think you try to make a move for Dutch. As you've mentioned he checks a lot of boxes.
I still think they'll need another scorer as well as a dman come playoff time. We'll see what Bowman does here...and how the league is going have this play out with Hossa's LTIR. |

What happened to Tanner's blog about the Penguins still going to the White House?
Is he being censored?
It IS a joke that they would go ... even before Trump's latest idiotic comments.
I really hope he's not being blacklisted for speaking out against such a racist, homophobic, and divisive individual ... who in some sad fashion is the current President.
Tanner, and his entertaining articles, happens to be the only reason I visit your site. |

JJ 2 things first as we get closer to the opening day and hossa and rosie going on LTRI have you heard any rumors on what the hawks will do with that cap space, besides probably signing Franson. What can we expect with the future considerations from Vegas, draft pick, prospect or one of their d man that they have to move.
Would like your opinion on my opening day starting lineup:
Saad Towes Panik
Sharp Smaltz Kane
Hartman AA Hayden
Bouma Kero Wiggles
Extra forwards totoo jurco
Kieth Murphy
Kempney Seabrook
Franson rutta/pokka or d man from vegas
Crawford
Forsberg
Keep up the nice work JJ!!

They're a children's singing group that's been around since the 90s, though the members of the group aren't the same. If you were a 90s kid or had a kid who was in primary/elementary school in the 90s, chances are know some of their songs through sheer popularity. |

For like 5 years, yeah. She was with them since 2010 doing secondary characters before becoming the yellow Wiggle. They we were just on a TV special recently. |

Omg Bears beat Steelers
Omg Blackhawks play Stanley Cup champs right away
Omg Nobody wants to say what condition is Toews back
Holy Cow If we beat the Penguins, it will be next to stealing two points without Toews in top form. But hey look at the Bears....They just stole a victory. Johnny B Good please! |
