My issue with the whole thing besides what you have said above is the vehicle they are using to protest.
The national anthem. To me it's disrespectful.
After all of this is said and done what will come from them protesting? Not much is my guess. - Stripes77
A recognition that this country is ran by an bumhole and there's a lot of bumhole things happening in this country.
Exactly what they're trying to purvey. I'm not keen on the vehicle, like you said.. but I believe in the message. Show the unity, fine. Find better ways to protest, away from sports. |

Here's my beef with this...
What exactly are they supposed to do to change the way the police or racist individuals feel or think about them?
Many of the NFL players give back to their communities already trying to make some sort of a difference.
While I myself will always stand for the National Anthem, I have no issue with them no doing so. They have that right as an American citizen. This country was founded on being the land of the free, yet it's pretty much the complete opposite of that these days.
That's all I'm going to say about this matter. I'm not a fan of politics, so I'd rather just try and talk about something else. |

This started before Trump won any election...
So again that's wrong
The latest "protest" turned it all about Trump so the original message was lost anyway
And again nothing is going to change |

Key sentence. TO YOU.
To me, the "National Anthem" is a part of the problem itself. |

It's really not the opposite
This country is still the land of the free the only thing you're not free from is criticism from someone that doesn't share the same beliefs as you, which is what I think is the real major problem in this country. You have two different sides much of the country can meet in the middle, the real problem is the 10-15% on each side that are turning this country inside out.

I can 100% agree with this much.
The far left and the far right are incompetent morons.
I always said, both sides have great points to make and they need to meet in the middle and compromise, yet their self-righteousness prevents even hearing the other side, let alone understanding where they come from.

This is definitely true. I don't necessarily agree with some of the things people I know say/do, but at the same time, it's not my life so at the end of the day, it's not my problem.
I'm so sick and tired of seeing people call each other names or be so rude to one another just because they feel differently about things. If someone doesn't agree with me, it's fine and vice versa.
I really honestly think that social media has a big role in all of this as well. I'm really tempted to delete my FB account because I just get so annoyed with the name calling, etc that goes on. If I unfollow any more people I won't have anything left on my news feed so I may as well just delete it. |

Correct to you and Stripes...just gonna leave this here...we've known this to be true for a long long time.
Aristotle - the golden mean. Moral behavior is the mean between two extremes - at one end is excess, at the other deficiency. Find a moderate position between those two extremes, and you will be acting morally. |

I just want this to be over. I get that it's selfish because these people do have a point. But I just can't take anymore of this talk of disrespecting the troops. I'm not a soldier, and I never have been, so props to them, but this strawman soldier being upset is so infuriating.
On one side: you hate America and the troops
Otherside: you hate black people
Just kneel before the anthem, then get up during, or l, I don't know. But seriously, is this just gonna be a thing forever? |

Right but that's not the point. Don't try to justify your beliefs, but understand, your belief here is an old-mentality and you have to hear out the other side and at least consider where they're coming from.
While ignorant to a fault, Xennials and Millennials alike are well-informed on the History of this country.
To a lot of us, the flag represents stolen land, a genocide, concentration camps ("reservations"), racism, oppression and corruption. The "National Anthem" is a celebration of the institution behind these heinous acts.
Our constitution is failing, our "Democracy" is a farce and I have every right, by the very first constitutional amendment, to criticize, protest and speak out against this by any means possible. And a LOVE for the country is the reason behind most of it, a love for the ideals and premise behind it.
The National Anthem is in fact, the best avenue to do that very protest, because all eyes are on you. It hits people hardest, it forces them to join something they've been ignoring for far too long. There is a reason people are protesting the National Anthem and one of the reasons is that its because no other protest gets acknowledged.
What does the "National Anthem" truly represent? |
