30 days or 10 regular season games first I believe, even for pre-season waiver claims. So you will have to wait till then, so thats a locked spot for the opening day roster/press box.

Yesterday word came out that Moulson and Girgs were battling for the second unit PP spot.
Nolan is a left shot, so i'm deducing that Girgs won the spot, and because Moulson sucks 5-on-5 and doesn't play PK, Moulson will either be in the press box or waived.
That's then only scenario i can figure out |

No. I picked the Stanley Cup semifinalists, nothing more, nothing less.
And the question is whether your post fairly evaluated the offensive talent on the Sabres, when you said there isn't enough talent or depth - AND YOU'RE SAYING IT AGAIN HERE>
And I showed that there is the same talent and depth in offensive talent as three of the four last teams in the show - and haven't bothered yet with the Pens.
EDIT:
So the Pens clearly outscored everybody else in my analysis: their top 9 had 431 total points. And the Caps top 9 had even more, 462.
But if we get a full year out of Eichel, and Girgensons and Baptiste (or whoever else goes there) contributes as we hope, it wouldn't surprise me to see us closer to the 400 than 300. - Der Kaiser
The original question that spawned this whole argument was about shuffling lines cause of some stale offensive play. My point was that Housley isnt a miracle work. As of right now his options include guys with limited NHL time and production and guys like Pouliot. You can juggle the lines all you want but if your options are those two there are going to be some painful nights. ESPECIALLY when your D is still somewhere in the bottom half of the NHL which is why i have an issue with those specific examples you provided. Because those teams can get away with it.

Dude, there is no question that we have enough talent to be good. Period.
Are we all happy with the team as it is, and are we making the Finals this year with Housley? Of course not, but we are not so talent deprived that given decent injury luck and Housley not pooping the bed we ought to make some noise this year and beyond.
Flip it around: IF we are in the playoffs or at least a bubble team come April will you be crediting Housley (and acknowledge Disco Sucked), OR will it be because we added Scandella, Pouliot, Ocho Cinco and a couple 3rd-pair D?
Edit: Or would you give nobody credit? - LandlordTom
1. Good is a relative term, are you referring to maybe playoffs or definite playoff contender?
2. Again im not sure what the bar here is. If its playoffs, its not like the changes made suddenly put us a tier above. The real change will be hopefully having Eichel for 82 games. This team isnt a bonafide contender because of scandella or something..
3. Both are incorrect. If we make the playoffs or close its going to because Eichel goes all mcjesus on this team(wouldnt rule it out completely) or someone who isnt a core player currently took that next step and became one. Whether its risto proving analytics guys wrong or Lehner taking that next step. Or someone like Beaulieu who projects as a 3rd pair guy but comes in and gives us Campbell like results.

the 10 game 30 day thing applies to plays who are called back up.
When a player clears waivers and is sent down and then is called up again, he does not have to clear waivers to be sent down again unless he has played ten games or has been "up" for 30 days |

This is a function of salary cap league though. The good teams are always going to have to find guys who step up. |

Thats fair and to an extent i agree, but its also a result of botterill's hands being tied at least for now.
There wasnt much he could do in the trade market/FA without damaging the teams future. It may take a bit of time before they find their guentzel and ease in nylander/mittelstadt. |
