A couple names I didn't think we would see on waivers

Scott Wedgewood is a good young tender, so I thought.

I am also a bit surprised to see Tyler Wotherspoon on there. I thought he was a good young defensive prospect. I guess with Kulak and Kylington, they don't really have room or need him.

He's done 'just ok', I don't get where you think he's done "a great job"? He didn't asset manage very well and he picked Virtanen when there were some pretty good kids picked after him.

Brock Boeser appears to be the only pick he's hit a homerun with, we won't know on the others for a few years.

I mean that he has added a lot of players in a short time that seem to be decent quality at minimum. Lots of free players from college as well. This past draft seems to be promising in what many called a weak draft.

Much better than any canuck GM has done in forever.

I will forgive JB for chaput though

I'd be tempted to pick up wotherspoon and waive Biega

Biega has shown more grit than any other defenseman though. Biega is a decent 7/8 defenseman. I think with the emergence of Chatfield, and Benning signing Holm, I think Benning won't make a claim on any D-men at this point.

is this good or bad?
- CanuckDon

Apparently conditioning was an issue, so I'd say it's good

Its tough, they are nice prospects to have but waiver claim means they are NHLers. I imagine most teams will agree they are not quite ready, but IMO VAN should be a little more aggressive on free prospects, bring them in and see how they mesh

They drafted Horvat at nine so I was screaming for them to take a skilled defenceman
- LeftCoaster

I'd like that, he's young enough to take a chance on. We know what we have in Biega at this point, big heart but too little talent.

I would expect COL to take claims on some of these guys. They are in dire need of help, and have already taken on a few scraps in Yakupov and Cowen.

I'm still waiting on LV, some serious dmen and only so many spots. We could get Sbisa back, I know that would be a popular move! Maybe Clayton Stoner, tough as nails and Islander to boot!

McPhee said today he wanted to look at his team over four games but he's now returning calls on some dmen.

LV is probably wanting to see all of their defenseman play in these preseason games and make hockey trades before they start losing some of their D-men for free on waivers.

I don't want Sbisa back and his contract, and Stoner is a pylon

ya Im not a fan of his either

but for people here who complain about asset management that would be a win from that perspective.

COL definitely should, they need defensemen badly. I do hope they swap out Wotherspoon for Biega, the guy is 29, time to move on
