I am not sure the playoffs are on the radar.

Sad to see Boucher's stock drop. But I bet Calgary will pick him up just to lock him up in the minors and keep him away from Vancouver. They will call him up when the Canucks play the Flames and he will score twice and Burke will come out in the media and rub it in. So says I.

Don't players claimed have to stay in the NHL or be exposed on waivers again?

I don't really follow Kelowna or Kamloops specifically, but I would imagine the close proximity would make for a pretty decent rivalry.

Like when Naslund said we choked in the playoffs. Seem to remember he got fairly roasted in the media for those comments.

I am also pretty sure that if the Flames did that, the Canucks have first option for him and can immediately send him to Utica without requiring waivers. That's what Corrado sat in Tor and they had to find loopholes to get him games in the AHL.

I think thats how NJD got Boucher back when he was on/off waivers last season

Yes, Nashville claimed him. When they decided to send him down he was exposed on waivers again and claimed. Then we tried sending him down again and you guys were like 'that's Canuck of that, Devils...."

I liked Reid and would have liked to see him do well somewhere. His skating has been an weakness and if his conditioning isn't good that's obviously a big problem.

Ryan Biech's depth chart

Not sure his rationale behind the order, but has Sam Gagner 1RW and Burmistrov ahead of Sutter. Looked like an actual attempt until you see Boucher ahead of Goldobin on LW

Reid Boucher being waved really makes me wonder if Virtanen makes the team.
- vancity787

It's one less forward to climb over. Boucher's fate was determined before the plane touched down from China. Won't count BB or Dahlen in JV competition. Though JV still has like 8 more forwards to beat out for a starting spot. Most notable still in camp are Rodin, Goldy, Chaput, Megna, Labate. Plus vets in line up role only as, they could be kept as extras, like DD, Burmistrov and UP.

Hard to have consensus on an unestablished roster like this there are a lot of grey areas. Such as the difference between bubble players and roster is more fluid then static. Plus what position you would put a forward in from wing to center. Like Gagner & Granlund for example could be placed in all 3 forward positions. Double wingers LE & Vanek etc.

I just wonder if Rodin will stay healthy and if so, would a checking role be best for him?

Guess depends on how you define checking role. Rodin isn't a gritty type of course. But he's known as a speedy skilled two way forward. So he could play up or down the line up.

As far as health it seems more relevant to extending him contractually. Right now he is healthy after missing like 1.5 years of Hockey. Still has a chance of proving himself fit for the NHL.

At this point I don't think the Canucks should be icing a checking line at all ...4 lines with the emphasis on scoring ...figure out who you want to keep around long term and once some of the higher end prospects are ready to be Canucks you can go find checkers if need be

I disagree, they should ice 4 checking lines and figure out scoring later...
