Remember when Dragon said the only guy in the league he'd consider trading Tree for was McDavid? Good times.
- golfingsince

which meant I wouldnt trade him since that trade would never happen. Finally get it?

JB has done a great job restocking the cupboards

really scored with some college players

- SMBDragon

He's done 'just ok', I don't get where you think he's done "a great job"? He didn't asset manage very well and he picked Virtanen when there were some pretty good kids picked after him.

Brock Boeser appears to be the only pick he's hit a homerun with, we won't know on the others for a few years.

I was never a big Frankie guy, I think that whole thing started with Ian Esplen if I'm not mistaken?

Unlike last season, where I followed mostly one team in juniors(Tri-city) because I liked Rasmussen and Valimaki(who I think Calgary got best defenseman in the draft), I will be following many individual players.
On defense i will be keeping an eye on Dahlin, MacIsaac, Samuelsson and Wilde.
Up front I will be following
Tkachuk, Veleno, McShane and Ketkoniemi(sp).
At this point I would be pretty happy with any of these players and am not to concerned about our draft position, as all look to be either top 6 centres or top pairing defensemen.

Yamamoto killin it for the Oilers in camp, kid has five goals in the pre-season, when did they learn how to draft?
- LeftCoaster

5'8, weighs a buck and a half. Maybe he fits into the new NHL we have been hearing about.

Not sure he can last a season, let alone a playoff series.

That's a complete myth...there's been smaller skilled successful players playing in the league since I was a kid and it's still happening today.

I don't think he'll take hits too well.

That's what they said about Gretzky, you can't hit a shifty guy, which most smaller players are. He's not ready for the NHL, I'm assuming, but he's certainly a talented kid, that was my point. There's been smaller players, as I said, in the league for a long time. If he gains some weight this year he could be a great pick.

Not one of these guys were more than 5'9"

Brad Marchand is 5'9" 180 lbs
Johnny Gaudreau is 5'8" 157 lbs
Jared Spurgeon is 5'9" 165 lbs and he plays defense
Tyler Johnson 5'8" 180 lbs
Cam Atkinson 5'8" 180 lbs
Conor Sheary 5'8" 175 lbs
Mats Zuccarello 5’7″ 179 lbs
Patrick Kane 5'9" 175 lbs (might be 5'10")
Jonathan Marchessault
Jaden Schwartz
Michael Cammalleri
Tyler Ennis
Paul Byron
Frank Vatrano
Brendan Gallagher
Theo Fleury
Marty St. Louis
Mats Naslund
Hakken Loob
Marcel Dionne
Ted Lindsay
Rod Gilbert
Tony Tanti
Stan Jonathan
Danny Gare
Brian Gionta
Rene Robert
Pat Verbeek
Henri Richard
Dave Keon
Yvan Cournoyer

etc. etc.

They must have tons of confidence he'll succeed taking him in the first round.

Was he that high on your list as well?

I'm not a big fan of taking chances on guys like him in the first round unless they're super ultra-skilled, I personally would have waited until the second or third round and would have taken Lind ahead of him.

One of my all-time favourite Canucks was Cliff Ronning. He was 5'8" &170#.
Edmonton needs complimentary players for McDavid and Draisaitl, which Yamamoto could be a Very nice fit.

Yamamoto and Lind both played the full year last year as 18 year olds, September and October birthdays, Kailer had better numbers than Kole but I like Kole's size so ya I wouldn't picked him.

Yamamoto - 65games 42 57 99
Lind - 70games 30 57 87

Yamamoto has 5 goals in the pre-season, but he has been playing 1st unit powerplay and essentially been playing in the oilers top 6 with their regulars. Not trying to take too much away from the kid, as he is a damn good player, but EDM needs to temper those expectations.
