Yeah sure you have if you did you'd know he's a Capt and not a Mister - Makita
Is the Captain a real person or a synthetic organism? I can't tell.
He's PM'd me a few times and he/she/it seems to have the humour of an ATM machine. |

Heading into 12/13 they were ripe for change, it never happened - LeftCoaster
That twin signing sealed the deal and they are where they are now in large part to seeing it through. |

from 2012/2013 to essentially 2016/2017, this team followed the leafs model by essentially doing exactly what we all criticized them for doing for so long, which is not being to able to recognize when a team needs a rebuild, and hanging on to players far beyond when we should. - Codes1087
Atching up on the last few pages...
Wow lots of great stuff. Was thinking the Caps r in a similar position winning but not the holy grail. My take is after 2011 FA wanted to keep on trying & MG was soon gone after AV. Losing AV was the beginning of the real slide. Sure we needed to retool back then but it was all on MG with NTC/NMC's & traded draft picks. Yes it made sense then but the after effects r also true & we r still suffering from them now. As much as i am a JB supporter he has struggled but has it going in the right direction now. 2012 was an ominous sign as it turned out & some other questionable moves have been made. Overall its not as bad as it may seem but also we won't know for a few years on how to grade JB for real. At most we were setback 1-2yrs imo with much hope going forward. |

lol - CanuckDon
The same GM who's overpaid on over half of his significant contract negotiations needs more time to be judged for when he has more cap space to work with?
You see the irony here, right?
It's like me saying Gillis needed more drafts to be judged on his draft picks. |

to go to 7 games in the Stanley cup final in 2011, and to be pushed around like they were in that final game, everyone knew that a bounce back year was going to be insanely difficult with the same group of guys. I would have been completely open if they decided to tear it down and rebuild after that cup run - Codes1087
Didn't Van win the president trophy in 2012? And got beat up by LA in 5 games in playoffs. That's when FA made Gillis hire Torts.....and down hill is where we went from there. |

You're just the whipping boy at the moment.

If Benning DOESN'T trade Vanek/Weircoch/Burmistrov/Dorsett(hopefully)/Gudbranson(hopefully), then I will think he is an complete idiot. I know not all of them will have good value, but he needs to get rid of them at TDL. - Codes1087
Don't go pushing Burmistrov out the door just yet. He may be a free draft pick seeing he is still young.

"I dare you, I double dare you mother (frank)er".
True true. Vanek is a different situation entirely but if that's the case then we won't see the true value of that signing until JB can turn it into something that has value.
TBH, I hope JB gets better at his trading abilities. His homerun percentage is low. - bloatedmosquito
Do you really expect Benning to get a new contract after this season? I don't see Aquilini giving him another multi year extension.
I would be shocked to be truthful? |
