After a week and a half in Fiji, with no internet, it's back to reality.
Saw that Canucks fell to LA in China and am up to date thanks to Carols dutiful work.
What else i miss?

Boucher clear waivers, off to Utica
Kole Lind named CHL player of the week, 2 goals, 6 assists in 2 games.
Dipietro named CHL goalie of the week. 3-0 with 1 SO.
Dahlen sent to Utica along with most of the prospects.
Oh, and Virtanen is a bad prospect because his +/- in the preseason.

There was some high praise by TG about him. I'm sure the roster is set except for the 13th forward and the 7 and 8 D. I would much rather lose a D then a forward.
- manvanfan

Not so sure how set roster is right now. All those bubble forwards like JV, Goldy etc. likely are not kept around for 13th spot. The D I will agree they got their starting 6 and looking at who will stay on as extra. Interesting to see how they balance that number out with forwards they want to stay.

Boeser + Goldobin were the latest practicing with the Sedins.

I am not sure about the rest. Horvat hurt on a doughty hit in China as well.

Praise and recognition of astute assessment abilities is nasty? Isn't he better positioned to know how the kid is doing observing Lind in person?
- Nuck4U

No, but that's not what you said. Here's how you phrased it...

"sure changed your assessment"

You're suggesting the poster is flip flopping on opinion.

"guess the summer exposure helped his development curve"
You're suggesting now that the poster has actually seen the kid play (i.e. exposure) the poster has a better understanding of the kid's ability. That in turn suggests the poster didn't know what they were talking about in the first place.

But I may be wrong.

Horse walks into a bar and bartender says 'why the long face'?

Horse...'no reason just down on myself a bit'...Horse decides to leave.

Horse comes back in the bar but this time has a set of jumper cables with him...bartender says...'hey I don't mind the long face but don't you start nothing in here'.

You're not wrong... although maybe the bold is praise.... of a type?

Anyways, I'm pretty glad that we drafted him and am happy with the development of almost all or prospects at this time, especially Cassells, her looks downright dominate out there this year.

Carol,

Thank you for yet another informative and enjoyable blog post! Picking up on your notes on DiPietro & Lind...

"The big news from Monday is something that I believe is unpredecented. The Canucks don't seem to have standout prospects in major junior very often but Mike DiPietro and Kole Lind both made bold statements in their first week of the 2017-18 season."

...while I wouldn't want to over-state the first 2-5 games of their respective seasons, it is really is encouraging to see some of the youngsters get off to a great start!

I'm hoping the last group heading to Utica over the next couple of days (Virtanen? Boeser? Goldobin?) go there to work hard and show they are ready for their opportunity when they are called up!

I don't see either JV nor Goldy as ready for the show. BB is undoubtedly ready.

Goldy needs to know how to play without the puck & find ways to impact a game other than the occassional offensive foray. JV continue on his new approach to stay fit & hungry & stick with it.

I completely agree on Boeser...he makes smart plays with the puck, battles and finds space. Not to mention he can find the back of the net.

Also agree on Goldobin. You can see the talent, but he does seem lost without the puck and sometimes with it.

JV is the question mark for me. He is strong on the rush and on the back check, but he seems like he's trying to think through what he needs to be doing otherwise. I'd like to think he'll progress more with continuity with Green, rather than simply playing time in Utica...perhaps that's optimistic.

The D all seem like a crapshot, still.

My take on the D is where will the offense will come from?
Nothing there to get excited about & i say it will further be a drag on scoring as well as the PP. The D prospect pool doesn't have what we need to change our fortunes. Still in need of drafting our way out of it. idk why the PK cannot improve though.

Steal of the draft! Fortunately I get to watch him all year! He lead a very talented Rocket team in scoring in his draft year, that alone says a lot!

I still like the looks of that 2020 roster.
My curiosities r who else might be on it.
Eg that line-up will be different imo
