Don't be too hard on the roster. It was built to win a cup and they couldn't get it done. Most teams that load up for a serious cup run pay for it a few seasons later.
Of course, Pitts and Chi seem impervious to that rule. - bloatedmosquito

I don't know why he's been assured anything, he hasn't done poop in the first few games - other than looking old and slow as fawk.
But you're probably right, he'll play the full year, top minutes, gifted PP time, won't sit despite slumps, nothing but contradictions on this team! - Brooks_Light

Yup that's exactly what I'm saying. There is no way he signs here being told he has to fight for a spot and he may be a 13/14th forward or play in the AHL. - Kaynine
he would have been top 3 in scoring on this team last year we suck, he is decent |

Wasn't Ty Rattie supposed to be something? What happened to him? - bloatedmosquito
couldn't play a two-way/defensive games on the blues, who are a very defensive team. Couldn't make a young team in Carolina after he was waived and picked up. Signed a one way contract with the oilers for dirt cheap, not sure why he thought he would have a better chance with their forwards than any other team. |

No one can judge him for what Gillis left this team with. But he now has moved out all but 4 pieces from that time and has gone through 4 drafts. We should be able to start the judging. I will give him credit though, he has gotten better at trades and signings. He is evolving in the right direction. As for the Sedins, there are going to be a lot of disappointed people once that signing is done....me included. - Kaynine
I think it's hard to fully evaluate his work until the Sedin's are gone |

he's not wrong. 18% (roughly) of Bennings cap is taken up by two players who can't be moved. |

Nope - I'd like DA to take Dorsetts spot, imo he's a better option and would probably put up as many or more points, throw more hits and actually win the fights he gets in.
Vaneks 40 points arnt a guarantee, not on this team, as we all quickly learned from Eriksson last year. All i'm saying is i'd rather see what JV, Burmistrov, Rodin or Goldy could produce instead. |

I gave him a couple years to clean house and use context when discussing his moves, but I am not sure what the Sedin's have to do with being able to evaluate his work.
Is it because they stopped them from bottoming out; because Trevor wants to help finish their careers winning games/making playoffs; or because they are eating up icetime from the kids? |

I said "fully evaluate." Of course you can evaluate his work. My point is, we won't fully know how sucessful or unsuccessful he has been until we see the next core. He may not be the GM at that point. This is still the Sedin's team. |

Once Edler Sedins and Tanev are gone and we start winning a bit...THEN we can assess Benning. |

I think you are reading an awful lot into preseason. Archie looked great but he is going full out against scrubs trying to earn a contract. Dorsett is coming back from a serious injury. Your assessment may be correct but it's too early to tell. |

Now I will say DA deserves a shot at that. Personally I think Dorsett is done...injuries and his wreckless play haven't helped his career...although I appreciate his work ethic.
Vanek has played on some pretty bad (and worse) rosters than here and still managed over 40 pts wherever he is. With proper TOI I see no reason to suspect otherwise. |
