I don't. It's not an effective protest. They can say it's not about disrespecting the flag and troops over and over but that is how it is coming across to the majority of Americans. It's just going to hurt his brand and the teams bottom line.
If the NHL was smart they would sit down with the NHLPA and ban it because hockey could get the fans that are abandoning the other sports and that means more money for everyone. |

The idea that the NHL would start raking in extra cash by banning protests that haven't even happened yet is ludicrous. |

Protests are supposedly causing the NFL's ratings to drop, but the NHL managed it without any protests.
https://sports.yahoo.com/...lar-season-201324298.html
The 2016-17 NHL regular season averaged 467,000 viewers across NBC and NBCSN, down 7% from last year (503K) and down 5% from 2015 (503K). That does not include streaming, which boosted the average to 475,000 — down 6% from last year (505K). Coverage on the NBC broadcast network averaged 1.2 million viewers over 15 games, down 20% from 11 windows last year (1.5M) and down 16% from 13 two years ago (1.5M). It was the least-watched NHL season on a broadcast network in at least seven years and probably further back.
So did Nascar.

If fans turn away from the NFL, which the numbers show they have, and the NBA because of these protests, they could end up watching the NHL if it stays away from politics. |

Ratings are down for a lot of sports, including the good ol' boys of Nascar. Why haven't all these fans that supposedly turned away from the NFL due to protests ended up watching Nascar races?
http://awfulannouncing.co...postseason-race-ever.html
NASCAR Cup Series racing from Chicagoland, the first race of the playoffs (nee Chase For the Cup), had a 1.4 rating and 2.3 million viewers on NBCSN Sunday — down 13% in ratings and 14% in viewership from last year (1.6, 2.7M) and down 26% and 28% respectively from 2015 (1.9, 3.2M).
Excluding rainouts, Martin Truex Jr.‘s win ranks as the lowest rated and least-watched Cup Series race at Chicagoland (dates back to 2001) and the lowest rated and least-watched playoff race at any track (dates back to 2004). |

I was driving down White Horse Road in NJ near the skate zone earlier today and am 100% sure I drove by Dave Hakstol in a flyers shirt and flyers hat walking down the sidewalk, already close to a mile away from the skate zone and walking away from it lol. I don't know if he walked to work today, wanted to get some cardio in outside, or was going to pick something up from the Voorhees target, but I chuckled. |

If it hurts his brand then those people should be ashamed of themselves for being such fair weather fans. You like a player and you have his back.
I'm 52. I know plenty of Vets. I've had ONE tell me he was put off by these protests. Police on the other hand... |

"Shock poll: A third of NFL TV viewers boycotting games because of Colin Kaepernick-led protests."
Why do it though? The message isn't getting across and is actually turning counterproductive. Would you run a commercial for your business that makes some of your customers hate your business? There has to be a better way for him to get his point across. |

Who cares.
He can do it if he wants, end of story. It's harmless and here's the buzzword- peaceful. It's not what I would have done 2 weeks ago but you know what? After the President's comments last week it's turned into more of a "unification" thing, and I'd join him.
That's all I'm saying on it. |

Of course there is. The interesting thing is that there are actually rules in the NFL rule book forbidding what the players are doing. Subject to fine, suspension, and loss of draft picks.

The NHL needs all the fans they can get and keep the ones they have. The Flyers will need the cap to rise in the future. |

You're wrong. It is getting across. People are talking about it. CRIPES MAN, we're talking about it. If they weren't taking a knee in the NFL it would be just another day. I've seen these people talk about boycotting this or that but it never has a lasting impact.
I'll just let it go at that rather than bringing this in here. |
