I liked the trades. But so far Goldobin doesn't look like a great return for Hansen, hopefully being cut will give him a kick in the ass
- Nucker101

Yes, I liked it at first, now he's not liking so shiny.

Burrows for Dahlen was a steal, even if Dahlen busts that was just a great market value trade.
Yup... great trade

Gagner and MDZ aren't going to be flipped this year, only Vanek could be. That's the strategy I've been screaming for since Benning took over the team.

This was to shelter Hutton and stech on D and force Goldy and Others to have to shine (like Brock did and virtanan kinda has (except plus minus) )

I guess I just don't think it's fair that he gets a "reset" button where we only start judging him since his last bad move. He's not some young guy like Dubas/Chayka, he's been in a front office before and been in the league for a very long time.

I think with the way that he changed how he's managing the club is a safe assumption that he had matching orders to be competitive in the beginning and virt was a local boy in what many felt was a very even field of available players. The Gilman fire and some contracts... especially at the beginning are definitive negatives, even if i like Sutter (brought in to try to get bettman to hate us less #conspiracymove) and Gudbranson (add toughness to a wimpy lineup).

Who said they look like busts?

Stech was not drafted

But his skill was identified by Benning who wooed and signed him

I did give him credit for picking up B type players when I said Chattfield will be a NHLer and he will find more that route

I will re-post it seeing I think you missed that

The good will be Chattfield will be on the Canucks after recall. He will find more players like MacEwen and Chatt.

Why did they fire Gilman in the first place and not hire a new capolgist?

Seems incompetent.

- Nucker101

Agree and to my point on that management failure. The problem is systemic though.

When twins were signed that sealed the deal for moves to be made to keep team in position to contend for a run. JB came in weighed by the contending to hedge his bets between that and a rebuild. It pissed off both sides who wanted go full tilt in the direction they wanted. Cuts were made to the voices.

You and others just have to accept they didn't do it how you wanted not because of not being capable but factors that tore the teams direction.

At this point there should be less confusion as management has leaned to phasing out Sedins and developing prospect pool for new core. A full commitment which will need a fuller management team.

The twins handle the contracts and they are getting much better in that regard

Awesome you found a job for them to retire into

OJ will have a better career (make more money and score more points) then Gudbranson, but players like Gudbranson, if they bring it, are just as valuable as players like OJ.

This was something I did not like when the regime changed. They were an innovative team under Gillis looking for competitive edges. I understood their concern with "too many chefs in the kitchen" but doesn't mean you consolidate roles, just find a supporting cast that would work with you.

To me, this incompetence is a little higher than JB's pay grade. Unlike a bunch of GM's, Jim doesn't hold another title in hockey ops, so to me the organizational structure falls on the men above him

Not many GM's have made trades that worked out & won cups.
Most trades amount to not much in the big picture.
Being overcritical is not proving anything.
Eg Droiun for Sergachev is not a clear cut win for either GM but both made out well fir what they were trying or needed to do.

I hope they both turn out great. All I said before was I would have chose Tkachuk or Sergachev over OJ.

I originally wanted the guy who runs the drafts for the Ducks. He's an old dude though.

If Benning gets fired soon, I'd try to poach Dubas from Toronto.

"I get where some don't realize , but the rebuild is mostly done and now we will just add by development "

Ahhh, HB classics from yester year. Well, last off season.

He was being a smart ass about a discussion we had last year. He was doing what he's always doing belittling someone, that is why I just ignore him

Never was happy with jenson or shink.
Remember Codys shot to win the game in ot in 2012... blistering.
We ruined him

That is fine too .

I expect after this year a bottom 3 finish

I expect BB to be the only prospect drafted by him playing in the NHL in 4 Drafts.

Thats the bad .

JV & McCann both played. McCann turned into EG who plays.
Tree played as well. A 2nd for Granlund is playing.

Nice expansion on that point. If they don't bring in that specialized AGM soon the rebuild will fail.

Yes expect a big year. Lot's of upgrades bringing in players with offensive talent at Michigan. Lockwood has lethal speed and gritty two way game. Could be next Hansen.

I think we are finding they are all important. If Gudbrandson does by chance turn out okay and Sutter would have , then it would have been huge as far as rebuilding.

I liked Gudbrandsons last game. If he can play about 80 of those a year no one would be complaining.

Sutter is not the only player to be suffocated by Canucks style speed and cycle game . The list grows month to month

I always liked him, Tallon sees something in him, we still don't know what we have.
