Well because the stats say so and my eye test doesn't see Archibald coughing the puck up quite as much as Dorsett who is a complete liability in terms of possession. I know you don't like stats but

Too many people simply regurgitate what they have been told about Corsi and +/- without having a clue about statistics. It becomes tiresome seeing sports writers with an inflated sense of self-importance lecture their readers on mathematical concepts that they are not qualified to speak on. Now I'm sure some of them have done a fair amount of research and aren't complete numpties, so I'm not entirely appealing to authority here, but again far too many of them act condescending towards others.

If you can't explain the difference between probability and likelihood, and if you don't know what an unbiased estimator is, or what the bias-variance decomposition is, then you have no business acting condescending while discussing the benefits of Corsi.

what team is going to pay a premium for a UFA d-man who had a really poor season last season (statistically and injury wise).

Archie is someone we need, the guys a hard worker, big body and uses it and good with the young guys, make it happen jimbo.
