You think he comes close to repeating those numbers? I don't.

Would love him as a bottom 6 winger, but I'm not buying high.

- Nucker101

he played with Horvat in London. I don't think his price has skyrocketed after 1 year either. I just think it would be crazy not to see what the asking price would be.

There will always be a need for coaches, but as we increase the real time technological devices that coaching staff have access to, it really does take so much away from the game..

Competing coaching strategies can already be abstracted to generative adversarial networks and as machine learning tools become more prevalent the abstraction begins to converge to reality.

But I agree, coaches aren't going anywhere.

Nobody? C'mon is VGK in our way with that massively great depth of talent?
Leafs or Hawks r set on D?

- Nighthawk

Vegas currently have 11 D - so why or how would they fit in? Leafs are pretty much set and Hawks cant afford them. But maybe there are a few teams that wouldn't mind having either of those D but Columbus were the team the poster suggested and their D are set AND I highly doubt they would trade Anderson for either anyways. BUT IF, they did, then who does Anderson push out of our lineup? It just seems like a lot of highly unlikely scenarios, I just personally don't see it happening. CBJ will have him signed by Monday.

I am terribly irresponsible if thats what youre getting at

Havent they started to put chips in the uniforms as well? The collection of data is a big part of the new statistics, it'll be very interesting to see people make sense of the chaos

- WhiteLie

I was unaware of that but I find it entirely unsurprising.

It reminds me of the Bouma situation in Calgary. He had a career season and got overpaid, Calgary loved him for the style he plays so they paid up and now he's in Chicago making NHL pennies.

I like Anderson better than Bouma of course and Bouma had some injuries, but I'm 100% against trading for and then signing players coming off of a career best season. Especially when it's inflated by a high sh%.

I'm betting he's asking for decent money if CBJ has yet to sign him.

Would trading baertschi or grandlund plus a pick be enough? Or maybe trade Gudbransson or Hutton. Too much?
- canucks1986

I really think players in here will overvalue the crap out of him.

If JV gets a real shot this year, I don't think its out of the question to see him put up similar numbers to Anderson, maybe not 17gs, but close, and possibly more assists so I don't really see the point of acquiring him.

New NBA draft lottery changes. This may eventually impact the NHL's way of doing their lottery as well, seeing how that's where Bettman came from.

I like the idea of the bottom 3 having equal odds at #1

I don't think he can demand much coming off of a 17 goal year. Having said that, a 23 year old that can give you 17 ish goals, who plays a power forward game and has the height/weight to support that game, is something a team like the canucks (offensively and physically challenged) would be interested in.

Would love to see JV have that type of a season. I think he has the ability to do so for sure if he puts it all together.

I agree. Why pay high for a player on 1 decent season when we can wait on JV.

Don't get me wrong, I like Anderson. I just think that he's due to regress offensively and there's reports that he and CBJ aren't close on the numbers so it's reasonable to assume he may be asking for too much.

I'm glad Benning inquired about him, id obviously be happy if he bought low on him, but I don't think the Jackets move him for a return that's underwhelming.

I just read a report that they have agreed on a 3 year term deal, but both sides are firm on price, and that price is only 150k difference lol.

Nothing wrong with having a couple of guys like that in your bottom 6. This isn't a video game where you need a playmaker, sniper and powerforward on every line to be effective.

Yeah, the report I was referring to was from a week or so ago.

If it's only 150K then they're definitely not trading him unless the offer is good.

if both sides are only 150k apart, and the player then says he wants to be traded, I think its less about money for the player than it is about wanting out of that organization. I could be wrong though.

It could be a case of 'give them an inch and they'll ask for a mile'.

This would actually support your theory because it would indicate that the GM does not think the player is willing to negotiate on good terms (i.e., the player wants to push the limits to either be over-paid or traded).

True. I thought Torts loved him though. Maybe he's not a fan of Jarmo after these negotiations lol. A bizarre situation.

If Jimbo can become the shark in this situation and get him at a decent price then I'd be really impressed.

I find that hard to believe don't you? Considering he could be an important part of their future, they drafted & developed him, he's still young, plays exactly the Torts kinda game, and they have about 8 mil in cap space. He can't be expecting anymore than 1.8-2.2, so it seems like pennies in the grand scheme of things.

It's really weird. Torts loves him and gave him decent ice time. They're close on negotiations apparently and suddenly he wants out?

Either it's #fakenews, a weird negotiating tactic, or something or someone really pissed him off suddenly.

The Q is at what price & what assets?
Cannot see my way for us getting him & only kick tires is enough.

What is a decent price in your opinion? Thx
I'd swap Goldy for him in a heart beat.
So far i see him as a 1 dimensional winger at best & not seeing improvement.
