Competing coaching strategies can already be abstracted to generative adversarial networks and as machine learning tools become more prevalent the abstraction begins to converge to reality.

But I agree, coaches aren't going anywhere.

In non-nerd speak: coaching strategies will increasingly resemble competing computer programs/algorithms.

What is a decent price in your opinion? Thx
I'd swap Goldy for him in a heart beat.
So far i see him as a 1 dimensional winger at best & not seeing improvement.

- Nighthawk

I wouldnt. I know Goldobin's development is a concern to some, but defensive effort is a lot easier to teach/coach than high end offensive skill. If Anderson is an older version of JV, thats trading something the team severely lacks (high end offensive talent) for bottom 6

I can't wait for Dragon's interpretation of computer coaching.

Yes defense is very easy to teach i agree.
That said its smarts & effort which Goldy has shown neither of.
That is the knock on him & what keeps out of the NHL.
If he is not scoring at a great rate he's not doing the other things.

My concern is he is either stupid or lazy or very low hockey IQ.

I'd probably do that as well, as much as I prefer the higher upside asset in 90% of cases, I think that's a trade you have to make. Essentially you turned Hansen into Anderson which is a pretty solid move for a rebuilding team.

Thats a good way of putting it 👍

I prefer the higher upside asset in Goldobin, but I would be 100% okay with that trade, value-wise.

Everyone always forgets about Rathbone. Although a long shot, he is an intriguing prospect

I would like to give Archie a try . We have tried so few other options and always expect different results. He can play tough and he can score. Put him with JV and Burmy

Most of the non 1st round NCAA guys are always forgot/underrated by fanbases, since they don't attend main camp and don't play as many games as the CHL guys. Gaudette has gotten some hype now though.

Rathbone and Lockwood have some decent upside for sure.

I hope the team keeps drafting out of the NCAA/USHL pool, I trust our scouts there and the US program/developmental system is seemingly catching up to the CHL year by year

So what exactly is the knock on Archie? Why has he not been able to break through? Is he a big defensive liability or something?

Not hockey related, but pretty cool how the Patriots coaching staff picked up on 2 opposing players' body language to know what they would do next time. Basically got them a free TD.

With our plethora of wingers & prospects who don't score enough except BB i see Archie being good enough to play for what he can offer us.

I thought the last time he came here he was invisible. Like Grenier. He put in time no big hits and not getting involved. He looks much better so far this year.

No, he plays hard in all 3 zones. It's his skating that holds him back, he's a mediocre skater.

I agree with Vantel, I think he's at least earned himself a NHL 2-way contract so the team can actually call him up during the season, or maybe even keep him as the 12/13th forward if they want Jake to get top line minutes in Utica.

Thx I just don't follow Utica as much as I should and have only seen him play a few times. Good to hear he is really dedicated and trying hard.
