At the very least, I'd sign him to a 2 way deal for 1 year so he's a call up option.

You talking UP or DA...or both? JB only has room for 3 more contracts all season. See them skittish on doling out contracts. What with NCAA later in the season and drawing in a couple kids from Europe to finish the season too.

Doesn't matter if they're a male or female, they sign up for the job, they should be prepared for those situations...

Surprised they didn't shot him.... a little restraint for a change.

DA

I think 2 spots being open is good enough. Guys like Palmu and EP can sign AHL contracts if they want to come over late in the season. I don't think either of them needs to play a few games in the NHL to close out the season.

2 open spots is enough to sign 1-2 NCAA/CHL overage prospects like a Molino.

Also, theres a chance JB sells a roster player at the TDL for a pick or a prospect so that frees up another contract spot.

He's the only one I'd say would be worth a look at.

But most teams usually just have the players report to their AHL team if they don't have the contract spots and if the team is in the AHL playoffs.

If the prospects signs a NHL deal after the TDL, I don't believe they're eligible for the AHL playoffs. I could be wrong though.

Okay. Hockey wise that's a good play to do all that. But if you add in the politics of management (JB on hot seat) and marketing on a dumpster season the equation skews.

Canucks will be itching to parade the Euros for the season ticket holders before throwing them into Comets PO run. Plus pretty sure they got a BB type deal going with Guadette to get the kid not to go back for 4th year.

As for TDL. They usually like getting a seasoned prospect in return. Which means they got a contract. So it's a wash contract spot wise. That all said there is room to sign someone. But if they can get away with guy's under contract they probably feel a lot safer then pinching the contract limit.

For top notch players its an enticement to get them to sign with us rather then wait a year and sign with anyone

Believe that true something about needing contract/player papered in for AHL roster at deadline.

But college guys who sign would do so for attraction of burning year of ELC. That's JB's go to move to leverage signing. Plus helps convince them to come to the tire fire Canucks situated at the buried from the hockey world destination.

Gaudette, sure. Euro guys are safe.

Lockwood is still Canuck property after next year so no concern there.

Subban and his feelings will be traded opening up two more roster spots. You know he won't sign another contract here.

Nonsense, he's gonna get moved to wing in the A and dominate, passing goblin, Jake and Brock in the process. He'll get the call up in January to replace Vanek and set a record scoring 40 goals in 18 games to finish the season on the number one line... with the twins who each put up over 70 points and sign matching 5x5 contracts with a NMC .
his feelings die in a horrific snake baiting competition.

I believe even if he goes to Utica, another NHL team can offer him a 2-way contract, so if you like him, it would be tough to not reward him with a contract after this camp
