Whatever makes you feel better about Mike Smith. If the Nucks AHL team did that to Smith, imagine what McJesus will do.

You may be right and at the beginning of the pre season I agree! We're now at the point that they better kick it into gear or we'll be idling at the starting line, sucking other teams smoke!
- K-man25

Vets don't want to go hard and chance getting injured in games that don't matter. Whether we like it or not, that's the way it is.

So I guess the Oilers have no vets...

As I walk along I wonder... how 2 teams with lots of vets actually win a game in the preseason?

I got the feeling last night that the Canucks were playing like the Flames of three years ago. Not expected to win, but with a lot of youth and hard work they surprise other teams.

Flames were complacent. In the end a good old fashioned ass kicking might by a Canuck C team might be a good thing to get them rolling.

God damn I just want them to win 1st game of the season.

I think a positive season would be:

1) Win in Anaheim
2) Not get swept by the Oil
3) Not get swept in the first round

If 2 of these 3 things happen I will be happy, sort of.

- DuranDuran

Sweet, alright i can see it happening, win game one
Win one game in Anaheim
Win one home game against the oil
Get swept in round one!

I'm pulling for you!

Somebody has to win, and they do have like 10 guys who will be looking for new contracts.

Since CLB nixed a deal for Duchene because COL wanted him as part of the package, how do propose we make that acquisition?
- TandA4Flames

I herd on the radio it would have to involve Andersson.

The Matt Duchene rumours involving calgary won't go away.

What's a real deal to make this happen?

Ferland Andersson Rittich?

Dear Brian Burke and Brad Treliving,

I heard that Troy Brouwer lost 8 pounds during the Pre-season, did he lose that all from leg muscle? He looks slow, sluggish, disinterested, and totally unskilled.
Can we pay an extra $5 /seat/game to pay for Brouwer to be buried in Stockton for the next 3 years?

VERY SINCERELY,

SEASON TICKET HOLDERS

- InSutterWeTrust

This is something I'd put my money towards. An even better option would be a buy out.

Ryan Strome, Mark Letestu, Patrick Maroon, Jussi Jokinen, Anton Slepyshev, Drake Caggiula, Iiro Pakarinen, Mark Faye, Matthew Benning, Darnell Nurse, Nick Ellis, Laurent Brossoit

So that's 12 guys who don't have a contact after this season. Two are backup goalies though.

You really think they're going to trade Duchene for a borderline top 9 forward, a potential top 4 defenceman, and a probable NHL backup?

I asked the question of what it would take! Since your obliviously way smarter than me what do you think it would take for a player that could walk in 2 years?

Ferland plays on the top line.
Andersson is ranked #3 as far as Flames top prospects and Rittich posted very solid numbers last year.

The price has gone down but it's still going to cost more than that

Two of the following might work ...maybe
Valimaki
Andersson
Kylington
Fox
Gillies
Parsons
Bennett
Janko

You might be able to use Brodie but what's the point in that for the flames

If your offer would do it duchene would have been traded a year ago

When offering up a trade you have to look at what other teams will give up ...if they can beat the flames deal than we won't get him

Pass..... why does everyone have such a hard on for Duschene??? He's gone in two years, 1 if you can't extend next summer & sense he'a walking, & he hasn't had a decent year in 3 years. Let someone else overpay for him. If Im giving up any two of the above the player is going to be a proven young player where we have lots of RFA years remaining. This is just Darryl Sutter type of speculation talk. That article just mentioned us as in there talking, Tre talks with every team to see who is available & asking price so he has an idea what he might get for similar assets. Let Colorado eat him this year. That price tag goes down substantially as we get closer to his UFA.

There is no offer that would make sense for the Flames. Outside of Valimaki and Parsons, the Flames have some pretty meh prospects. The Flames also don't have the cap space. They'd have to give up even more to the Avalanche or someone to get rid of Brouwer.

Ferland plays on the top line, he isn't a top line player. There's a difference. Andersson has been greatly overrated by Flames fans. He's a decent prospect who'll probably have an NHL career, but he's not the stud prospect Colorado is looking for. Rittich put up similar stats to Garret Sparks last least, and both will probably end up as AHL starters or backups.

Duchene is a good player ...once traded he will put up better numbers ...guy has been an Olympian for a reason

Having said that I wouldn't want to pay the price for a guy who doesn't fit in ....he's a left shot center ...so even moved to the wing he's not a true RW

While I agree with most of this I think fox can be a guy who produces at a top line D rate ...with kids it's so hard to know their defensive game ...and they can all figure it out ...look at most of tbe top D in the league ...they were highly offensive at first with poor D and figured it out

When I look at guys like ras and kylington I see potential to have what the preds have ...they were able to trade other D for needs

I still don't see how Duchene makes any sense for us. Even if you take out the acqusition cost, where the Hell do we put him in our lineup? He's a top 6 player and we have no room in our top 6 anywhere besides maybe top line RW, but he's a left shot center anyway so we'd be putting him on the off-wing (which, to be fair, we're doing with Ferly right now).

We don't need Duchene at all, which makes his high acqusition cost all kinds of not worth it for the Flames. I know we're talking, I'm sure every team is, but I really don't see where he makes sense.

Exactly. Duchene is not a fit for us. Cost of return is not worth it. SAvevthe assrdtd got something that fits a whole lot better.

So Tyler Parsons had himself a night in Stocktons second preseason game.
