I have an odd sense of happiness with the team this year knowing that the first batch of call ups should be Boucher, Goldobin, Rodin, maybe Virtanen and not Chaput, Megna, Gaunce... did Grenier still get games last year?

the only way I'd be happy about the team making the playoffs is if it came at the expense of the Oilers somehow.

Playoffs would be awesome.

This is what I've said for the last 3-4. I dont care about the wins through this rebuild. Just provide me with entertaining hockey throughout the transition and my loyalty wont drop one iota.

in a vacuum it would be kinda fun, in the big picture it would be awful.

The last thing we need is for media, fans and management to think the rebuild is over.

There's not much in the pipeline on D and adding another high end first there will go miles further to the long term success of the tema.

At least Guddy is hitting even if it puts him out of position. Can't have Beiga being our most frequent hitter.

My point is more that additions of Boeser, Gagner, Burmistrov, and Vanek to go with Goldobin, Rodin, Virtanen and others is a nicer collection of depth than last year. The depth players this year can play. Guys like the scrubs of last year couldn't play and it made the games painful to watch.

Sure, but with the new draft rules, which I like, I have no faith that the team will get a top pick even if they bottom out. I also have a hard time getting excited about stud Dman in the 1st round. 3rd OA and 17th OA often produce the same quality Dman.

Agree pretty much other than idgaf what the media thinks. If its not BobMac or a select few others i say thinking is beyond their reach.

the worse they do the better though. next years top 10 is supposed to be 4+ high end D and the higher you pick the easier it is to get it right.

Picking later could get you Erik Karlsson or Hampus Lindholm but those are outliers. A lot of teams end up getting their Colton Teuberts and Dylan McIlrath's there more frequently.

Could you imagine this teams future If they actually Landed a defence man of Dhalins ilk.

I mean. Its not going to happen. But this franchises Future would be drastically transformed for years to come. And you dont even have to rush him.

It would be so glorious.

yeah but the media cares what the media thinks, and this new regime cares too.

When Torts got hired, what was the top story locally in print and on radio? "How is he gonna handle the media?" not "is he gonna win games". Since Benning and Linden took over, they've bent over backwards for the media to be friendly because they cried so hard before about how Gillis didn't give them the time of day and that made him a bad GM actually.

Liking JV again.

PP was at it's best when Henrik was out alone without Daniel. Time to split them up on the PP.

Burmistrov is decent at 5v5 but please get him off the PP.

Gudbranson and Hutton still suck together. Weircoch I'll admit is having another decent game.

if this is any indication of what things will be like by game 5 of the regular season, I'd rather have Megna or Archibald playing those 6 minutes than JV.

If JV BB and Archie make the team then things might be brighter sooner than later .Add Pedan to that list also .
