Agreed, (wow, thats rare on here, huh?) but I don;t see how the best of minor league reputations is better than a good NHL one. In that respect, I think Archie is a long way off of replacing Dorsett. Not to say he is not one tough SOB.
- Beatle_john

Fair enough, but personally I don't think players are more afraid of Dorsett than Archie. Plus isn't standing up for teammates part of Gudbranson's job description? I know it's tough to lose a dman for 5 minutes, but if it's Boeser getting lined up by Lucic or Nurse in Edmonton, I'd hope Gudbranson would do something about it.

Was it ever proven that his injury was caused by smashing his hand on a Leaf helmet during a fight?

I wonder if Granlund is set to have a breakout season. It's possible he could start looking like he is following his brother's development curve. He's been underrated by everyone out of this market.... and many Canucks fans as well.

What do people think his ceiling is?

Was it that late into the season? I assumed it happened in camp and the fight might've just been the finishing blow that forced surgery.

Problem facing any decision right now is, who kills penalties after Sutter Granlund and Erickson? Maybe Bo and Dorsett.
- Renidrag

Something like that wouldn't hurt Boeser's game especially if he has minutes left in the tank every night. Same with JV...

I know you're not a big numbers guy....

My issue is his sh%, it's pretty rare for player to sustain a 15.6% shot rate. He's due to regress in that sense. But the stats also show that he deserved to have more assists last year, but his teammates didn't score enough.

My projection is less goals and more assists and a more balanced stat line. I could see his minutes going down a bit with Vanek, Boeser and Gagner in the mix now.

I do think Pedan will make the team because I can't see Gudbrandson and Benning agreeing on a contract extension.
- VANTEL

I'm really intrigued with EG.

He plays for a new contract with a healthy n fresh start. We will see why we traded for him but i'm hoping he shines. Still he will get a very good return at the TDL but our depth will suffer whether fans like it or not. So boils down to can we can afford losing depth for picks/prospects or forced to keep n resign him? Guess the next 2-3mths will help clear that up more.

Sutter, Eriksson, Granlund, Dorsett and Bo would all be in the mix I'm guessing.

i have no opinion on the D, as i haven't had enough of a chance to watch the preseason games.

i'm just glad it looks like JV has a real shot of making the squad. i'm not one to say told ya so...it's just nice that all the chickenlittles have recovered enough to see his potential.

A very solid versatile 3rd liner who can move up when or if needed. Plays in any situation. A very key piece for TG.

20g 20a about right.

Can use either BB or JV at the end of a PK to catch ops offguard on transition to 5 vs 5. More so BB but JV keeps impressing me especially after bustin his ass on a back check a few games back. BB who i watched a lot at UND is very unassuming & plays a very good all around game even took FO's on the PP. He is a 200' player already. He appears to be tireless as well.

Good points. I see Granny as a better Sutter in the long haul & will be cheaper next contract. More options come the TDL & offseason.

part of me wants to see JV start in Utica playing top minutes.

I thought he has been very good vs what we saw before he was demoted last preseason.

still want to see if TG is really going to be rolling the lines before slotting JV into the bottom 6 or on the 4th line.

- hillbillydeluxe

A part of me also but every time i recall how we play when JV is here i cannot avoid that he does something to the team. Its not any 1 specific thing just a vibe or jump in our step on the ice. His effect is hard to pinpoint other than its more fun watching the games if he is in the line-up.

I think he will get third line minutes with Gagner Burmistrov

Both if those guys brings out JV's skills

Even Nuck4U is getting better, although hasn't quite grasped concept of less is more. lol

Edit; the last time someone complimented him he started back up on his old ways. Hope that doesn't happen again.

- Renidrag

He has made great strides IMO.
Simplying into hockey jargon & rolling with the discussions much better. Sure he posts a lot but good fans do that

I'm curious what the people define a good/great season for Gudbranson. Is it based on defensive/physical play? Meaning doing a good job of defending his blueline and having a low GAA rate?

I don't think his puck skills or offense will ever be decent.

Saying I think he's going to have a good season without really saying what defines a good season for him seems like a safe cop out. Something I'd probably hear on 1040.

- Nucker101

I'll take a shot at that...

Playing the Cali teams he stands out handling Kopitar Getzlaf Thornton or any other big body.
