Not sure what's worse, MacDonald being one of the vets the kids can lean on - or Prov forced to carry his ass for his first two years.

Hate to say it...But the way Brian Elliott played in this game reminds me of the way he looked in net for Calgary in last year's playoffs....

You are aware that pretty much every post you're making on the situation is filled with hyperbole?

Don't make me mad. Today just isn't a day to do that...

It's been a crazy Monday at the office and then the news from Vegas. I'm just not sure I can handle another gut shot today.

I don't agree that MSM should post videos of stuff like that. Smaller idiotic websites will continue to do it but profiting from something like that is as about low as you can get in my books.

They post them for one reason alone. To get more "hits".

I have refrained from watching the videos for that very reason. Any video showing a human being killed is off limits in my book.

I think there is some validity to that but I would counter with who was Provorov's mentor last season? If you can play, you can play. Looking at all the factors the balance scale for me comes out on letting all three play and make the team.
- MJL

Provorov had many mentors last season. Shultz, AMac, Gudas, DelZotto and Streit

There is nothing wrong with AMac mentoring the kids. Lack of skill has no connection to his hockey IQ.

Can't wait to see Jagr's new training regiment of strapping Johnny Gaudreau into a baby bjorn while going for a bag skate.

I really don't buy into the notion that a player needs a really good veteran to be good

i really dont get your current hobbyhorse here

do you really think Hextall acts different than other GMs on other teams or even in other sports when it comes to defending their decisions?

im fine with disagreeing with him and i do in a lot of ways, but your issue here seems to be about how the fans are "not respected" by the front office. How exactly would you prefer that he interacts with the fans? should they do a twitter poll and make decisions based on the results?

but im out of the loop...did he say something to the media dissing the fans or something?

With the roster Hextall has decided on, these would be my lines.

Weal-Giroux-Simmonds
Weise-Couturier-Voracek
Filppula-Patrick-Konecny
Raffl-Laughton-Leier
Lehtera, Read

Veteran doesnt need to be good. He just has to be there to help the players. Coaches can only do so much. Not all coaches have time for each individual player and when it comes from someone with experience it helps quite a bit. Think about your jobs. When you first started did your knowledge and teachings come from the supervisor or team leads? Maybe a little but most came from your colleagues who helped you will you worked.

Don't be ridiculous. The truly smart Flyers fans are all on Facebook, so the poll should be done there.

So if Lindblom will likely be recalled shortly, what can he learn in his short time in the AHL versus making those adjustments while up with the big club? Even in a top 6 role. He was a top player in a pro league... I'm sure he is capable.

I think if I started doing my job in my backyard when I was 4, I wouldn't need someone to show me how to do it when I turned 22.

They're surrounded by hockey their entire life. I don't doubt there are mentors and stuff along the way that play an important role, I just have doubts that it has to be some guy that plays the position with you or something along those lines. Danny Briere didn't turn Sean Couturier into the second coming of Danny Briere.

I kind of hope to see this Wednesday night:

Giroux - Couturier - Voracek
Weal - Patrick - Simmonds
Lehtera - Filppula - Konecny
Raffl - Laughton - Leier

Scratched: Read/Weise

I think Lehtera brings better skills then Weise and would still be a good two way guy compared to Weise.

Depends on the job and how well you want to do it.

A 22-year old in the NHL is very green.

I also think the mentor thing is also related to road trips and the extra money they now have access too.

I dont think the mentoring is just about in the locker room or on the ice.

Weise actually had some good backchecking yesterday. And of those that played the Laughton line looked the most into the game to me.
