Jaromir Jagr and Keith Tkachuk were drafted in Rd. 1 back in 1990. 27 years later, Jagr will now play on the same team as Matthew Tkachuk. - Scoob

Was this done so they have the option to send him down but not necessarily are they going to? - Hextall271
have to think they are doing it for flexibility. they may feel Ghost isn't going to be ready for Wednesday but aren't ready to put him on the IR. |

I missed the game last night and man I'm kinda glad I did after reading through all this...
Sheesh. - FlyersGrace
I think the reactions are more about people's own agendas/observations than what actually went down in game.
I, for one, am incredibly excited to get this season under way.

And all the other under-22 year olds are not.
Also, you think McDavid has nothing to learn about playing in the NHL and being an NHL player? - Scoob
Nothing Brandon Manning hasn't already taught him
I just don't get how that has anything to do with how good of a player a mentor has to be. Not all great players are great mentors and not all great mentors are great players. |

It just gives them 1 extra forward and 1 extra defender. Hextall said both defensemen (Morin/Sanheim) were going to Cali so it isn't really a surprise. |

I don't think Lindblom would've been cut if Hakstol was comfortable using him in the top 9 |

Agreed. But my comment was refuting this statement.
I think if I started doing my job in my backyard when I was 4, I wouldn't need someone to show me how to do it when I turned 22. - YuenglingJagr |

Alright. My overall viewpoint on this subject is that the NHL can't really be compared to people's day jobs. |

Nor can the NHL be compared squirt/midget/pee-wee or whatever the frank they call what four year olds play, or middle schoolers play, or high schoolers play, or collegiates play, or QMJHLers play, or AHLers play - even if played in sequence from the age of four. |

Hextall. Sure there are intangibles and variables involved that us fans don't know.. But when some players clearly outplayed others in camp, yet they didn't make the team, makes you wonder how or why he denotes certain players over others. - bmoreflyer
One of the hardest things for some fans to grasp is that players of varying experience are not treated equally in the NHL. For a number of reasons. It's simply not always just about who outplays whom in pre season and camp. It's just not. Fair or unfair. Right or wrong. When Hextall uses the word possible that is wide ranging and open ended.
Did Gostisbehere outplay Sanheim? |

It's about rounding out Lindbolm's game. Weise is what Weise is by now. That's one thing most don't understand. Something that can be worked on while dominating the AHL can actually help make a player better whereas trying to get that worked on at the faster pace in the NHL could stunt his development.

Yes, but someone is going to have to break the news to Ryan, the senior accountant at my office, that he isn't actually in the NHL. |

Everyone wanting to bash Hextall needs to realize he held his word. It wasn't enough to beat a vet, you had to beat them soundly as Leier did to Read. |

Didn't have a chance to watch the game live last night, so I just saw the replay. Manning did not have a bad game. He made exactly one errant pass in his zone trying to make a clear, and that was it. He had several good shots on net, pinched fairly well, and generally played fairly solid on D using the body.
The Manning hate is so over-the-top because everyone wants to see the three rookie D in the lineup. I like them too, so let's see how the beginning of the season plays out. I still would prefer Mandog in the lineup instead of AMac, but he is more than likely the #7 for most of the season. |

and to be clear, this person could only mentor you and make you better if they were better than you and had much more experience than you while also playing on the same team as you? - YuenglingJagr
No really because it is basic skills that need improving like keeping my head up and how to handle the pressure when a player is on you. These are pretty basic for most players yet I have trouble with just those 2 things. I am considered on of our best players and our league is getting tougher and tougher and I am struggling. On two teams and have 0 points in 4 games and on my other 3 points in 4 games. I had 20 points in 12 games a couple years ago. |

...but does that mean it has to be defenseman to deffenseman and forward to forward? This team has plenty of veterans, just would be limited on D if AMAC got waived.
I realize you are just trying to walk people back from the ledge but I understand why people are tired of the AMC treatment. He wasn't very good last night. - juiced
Yes it has to be position to position. Not saying that there isnt anything the forwards can teach them but there is always going to be positional issues to deal with. It is much easier for players to mentor young guys as well because they can do it on the fly whereas the coaches cant say anything until you are on the bench. |
