Also if it was a rebuild then guys like Giroux and Simmonds should be moved.
A rebuild is what Toronto did in moving guys like Kesssel and Phaneuf.

with all this talk of the rookies one thing that I am unsure of is how the goaltending will look this year....Will we get the Elliot of the St.Louis Blues or will we get Calgary meltdown Elliot? or a mix.... and if needed what will Nuevy offer? the Nuevy of last year or two years ago Nuevy who I thought played fantastic.

Again... four rookies as regulars to start the season, two second year players and a third-year player. Lindblom stands a good chance of being in the NHL this season as long as he plays to his capabilities in the NHL. Ditto whichever D man goes down.
There's already plenty of youth in the lineup, and there will probably be even more over the course of the long season. - bmeltzer
it didn't sound as tho Morin or Sanheim was slated to be in tho until Ghost got hurt.

a mix of everything that somehow hopefully results in slightly better goaltending than last year

I'm hoping Elliott is solid. I worry well lose neuvy to extended injury. Last year elliott had a horrible start and then ripped off a crazy good streak that propelled Calgary to the playoffs. They were overmatched vs Anaheim imo and he also didn't play well. Can't say that disaster is 100 percent on him. Recipe for a sweep. Really hoping we get the 10 game steak guy haha.
Those two had more time in development than any of our D prospects. The fact that two of the three Flyers prospects will be here this year should be even more telling. - dragonoffrost
Agreed.
But then again, if we had 2 35 year old Kimmo's on the backline, it would afford them another year or 2 to marinate in the minors.

I think we can expect better goaltending overall for us this year. Elliott seems way cooler and more collected compared to a guy like Mase. One odd thing that seemed to throw Mase off was whenever Neuvy was healthy and they did split games, Mase couldn't fully put it together. But anytime Neuvy went down and Mase was the distinct #1, he excelled. I don't think we will have this odd occurrence between Elliott and Neuvy. Elliott embraces the platoon role and it works well for Neuvy bc of consistent injurey-seasons.
