I'll start by saying I wish all of Lindblom, Morin and Sanheim were in the starting roster on Wednesday.
However, I'm a fan, I want the most exciting team on the ice, especially after 3 somewhat mediocre seasons. Hagg and Laughton are prime examples of the Flyers organizations plans with their stock pile of young talent. These are both players that many fans wanted to give up on over the course of the last 3 seasons. However, they were slowly developed and now look like solid NHL players. I think the same will prove true for Morin this season. Sanheim and Lindblom may take a little more time in the AHL. It's not based on them being better then Macdonald, Manning or Weise. Hextall wants these kids as prepared and ready to contribute to the best of their abilities. |

I don't disagree but Morin looks ready to compete at the NHL level after 2 years in the A |

I have a question maybe you all can answer. What does Tyler Leier bring to the table outside of skate really fast? |

We really need to remove the emotion from it. The kids did their job and performed admirably. That's a good thing and something to be happy about and look forward to. Here is the reality and what I think is working against them. The Flyers top defenseman is a 20 year old player who is in his second NHL season. He played extremely well beyond his years but he is still a 2nd year player. They have Gostisbehere who struggled for large parts of last season especially defensively and also struggled in pre season action. So now we're looking at adding 3 rookies to that situation. That would give any GM and coaching staff pause. Whether they move Gudas to play with Provorov or a rookie, one or more of the rookies are going to be put in a lot if situations that probably isn't the best situation for their development. That's not an absurd or unreasonable outlook by the Flyers brass. It's just not. I personally believe that they should just deal with that and accept the growing pains as they come but I'm not going to sit here and get mad about it. I know that it's short term and it's going to change in the very near future. We'll see how a long season shakes out. - MJL
This.
Unlike we here, management is operating in the real world. They have many more things to consider and can't just "throw them in there and see what happens."
Like you said, this is short term and in the long term things look really good.

will Alex Lyon be the starting goalie by the end of the year? I am not looking forward to this duo and Neuvirth isn't exactly Mr. Sturdy |

So my other league (for money) the guy does a random draft lottery. I get 1st overall. 45 minutes before draft time he sends a text saying that Yahoo wont let him edit the draft order within an hour of the draft. So our lottery is useless and it creates a random order as the draft starts and I pick 4th - YuenglingJagr

PK ability (him and Laughton are replacing everyone's favorite duo) and did score goals in the preseason unlike most of the star players. |

Exactly!
Morin brings an element to the game that this team has been lacking for a while, pure unadulterated toughness. The Flyers have been a soft team that's easy to play against for a long time now. How many times have watched teams run our goalies and jab at them with impunity after the whistle? How many times have we watched them lose puck battles along the wall and in the corners? How many times have we watched them fail to clear the front of the net?
Is Sam Morin going to make some mistakes? Absolutely. But, so what? He's going to give them a physical presence in front of their own net, he's going to win a lot of one on one puck battles and his huge reach will be a big help to the Flyers PK which hasn't exactly set the league standard the last few years. He can fine tune the rest of his game at the NHL level, I don't see how any more time in the AHL is going to help this kid at all. He needs to be competing against the big boys at NHL speed. - BiggE
I watched Sam play live at the memorial cup in 2015. He was great that game, but what I noticed was that every time he touched the puck he was booed like crazy by the Quebec fans. I asked some remparts fans exactly why. They said because he's a physical sob and hard as hell to play against. Basically made it hell for their players to get to the net. This spoke volumes to me. All I could say to myself was I can't wait til he makes it to the nhl. We need that component on our d corps going forward to improve. |

I’m not buying into Leier either. I imagine he will disappear when the regular season starts. |

Check out Leighton's mask this year
https://www.nhl.com/news/...c-291525506?tid=281396148 - YuenglingJagr
Wow...Franny Drummond does it again. This could be his best work ever....even over Mase's Flyers Zombies.
That said...I thought Leighton was playing hockey in like...Cuba or something.

Well, looks like I don't have to watch them as much for another year.
Hex and Hak deserve all the heat for this. The club is not winning the cup, and the kids are ready. Watching Mac on the top pair, and Konec playing with Fil/Weise is piss poor development.
Ridiculous. |

I do wonder how much of the decisions related to rooks not playing is on Hak, or if it's Hex calling the shots. One would think they are on the same page I guess. |

Nope, it's another rebuild year even if they are scared to tell the fan base that.
I did not however think we would see Mac, Weise and Manning as locks though. Thought we would see the kids transitioning to the big league after they have shown they are ready. Not sure what else they have to do. |
