Anybody who calls our GM "Mr. Botterill" as often as Jack does is not ready for Captaincy. Dude is 41. He's a colleague of the captain, not the respected elder. - Der Kaiser
I was taught to always use Mr. and Mrs. until told otherwise by the surname after said title as doing so shows respect |

I'm not disagreeing with you at all.
It's just really weird for me (a Leafs fan) to have a fan of a different team paying genuine compliments to my team.
That's never happened to me before.
And I'm really franking old. - Atomic Wedgie
I am 46
he will be as good as mats was this year, the best leaf I will ever see in 2 years
it's not a dig that I don't think, right now he is in the mvp finalist before they drop the puck
if you didn't have kadri, jvr, nylander, etc, etc he would be the man, more pp goals, more pp points and a probable finalist
enjoy him, f@ckers

Me too.
Sadly, that's gone.
Every one of my kids' friends calls me by my first name.
My parents are in their 80s. I still call their friends Mr. and Mrs. _______. |

I actually agree with you - I don't think he's on that upper, upper, highest tier yet.
But he has the most raw talent of any kid I've ever seen come through here.
And I also fully admit that he will get a boost in votes merely by playing in Toronto. It's just the way it works (and it's why Laine shouldn't be on your list). |

Kane will get us a return this year, Lehner is still the starter and RoR is great...yes the prospect pool would be better off, but outside of the Fasching and Gorges trades...I'm not sure you can argue we would be a better team without them (RoR/Kane/Lehner). |

All I've heard is how he took a 'discount' so that the team could spend elsewhere.
I assume it is in comparison to McJesus' contract.
Did he take a discount when compared... or has he not earned that level yet is my question?
I think the latter. - mlindsay
I think it was the fact that his agent wanted him to play out the season so he could make more next year, but he wanted to sign now. It's just agent spin. There's no guarantee he would've gotten more next year. |

Contracts do go up each season it seems and he most likely will have the highest point total of his career...I don't think he was doing himself a favor signing this year. Would have still liked 9 or 9.5, but that's chump change in reality considering the player.
I think the contract will be considered a steal by it's conclusion tbh. There are guys making as much as him that are on the decline... |

The "fumble" call on Sunday was perhaps the worst call in the history of sport (except for the non-call on Gretzky, of course), but having said that, I don't know, the Bills just seemed to have a weird confidence about them. I felt like they were going to win on Sunday, no matter what happened - when is the last time you had that feeling about the Buffaloes?
If the Pats can't get their defence figured out, who the frank knows, this just might be a fun ride with the Bills this year. - Atomic Wedgie
They were just showing the replay when I first turned the game one and they just showed his hand getting hit and I immediately said "forward pass", not knowing what had just happened.
I'll take it. How many times have the Bills gotten screwed?
The worst call in the history of sport is when John LeClair clearly put the puck in through a hole in the side of the net and they reviewed it and still called it a goal. |

Real captains don't need the coach to tell them. /s - jcragcrumple
Maybe he didn't want to overstep. It's a first time coach's final practice before the regular season.
I wouldn't read anything into it. |
