Does Mathew Bové work for the Sabres? Never heard of him before this year but he has all the video clips

Did i say they were? I meant that we dont have to re sign any of our current d-core (but I forgot about antipin). I would still like to add.

And for the record I dont think we need to add two 6 million dollar d-men. I also doubt they could anyways

- MCGUIZZY

right but how much of our current d-core do we even want to keep?

Did your crystal ball tell you that?

Listen, I get it. The defense was awful last year. But minimally it's at least half different this year (the main carry overs being Risto, McCabe and Bogo). Yes, I know Gorges is still here, but I don't honestly expect to see him get a ton of games unless we get decimated by injury.

My point is lets at least wait a few weeks into the season before we say for sure that any particular position is in need of an upgrade.

- HonkFortheGoose

half different but how much better? I get we should wait to see how it falls into place, but if were making projections right now which is what i thought was happening we're short two guys who would theoretically take up a good amount of cap. Although if anyone could find a steal there dollar wise its probably JB.

I love how Tanner chimed in too.

Do we get to take away all 200* of Ovechkin's one timers from the circle on the PP too?

I don;t know if it is the joke but in addition to being a pretty mediocre hockey player in real life a chimera is an exceedingly rare fictional animal and means a thing that is sort of beyond realistic expectation and impossible to achieve

are we talking in terms of cap hit or by value as in their play would normally earn them that?

Edit: why 3?

An advanced stat guy doesn't even need to make a claim to be genuinely embarrasing it is res ipse loquitur.

Risto is pretty close and if he went bridge deal he would've gotten at least $6M on the big one.

And nobody is taking a 25% pay cut. Earning $4M but worth 6.

Two thirds if not more:

Risto, Scandella, Beau and McCabe seem fine. I think Risto, Scandella and McCabe could at least make any team in the NHL if not have a big role on one (Risto). Is this wrong?

Guhle could be added if he shapes up, Antipin as well. Personally, I'd say we are a "good" defender away from having a solid defense. Everyone talks about Moulson to LV when really, it's Bogo's contract that we're more stuck on.

If we could get one top pairing guy and rid ourselves of Bogo, you don't think this is enough to contend:

X - Risto
Scandella - McCabe
Beaulieu Antipin/Guhle

That isn't the best in the league and does depend on who X is, but I think you're one too high on the 6M dollar defenders.

Well gorges is gone and unless we can trade Bogo hes here to stay for a while and everyone else is locked up. So its not like I/we have a choice. All I know is that we are probably missing at least one top 4 d-man. Could that be Guhle? or even Antipin? I dont really think so personally.

Risto, Mccabe, Bogo, Beaulieu, Scandella and Guhle are here next season with Antipin being a bonus/unknown.

I think if the current group stated above (minus Guhle) perform well enough this season, we may not be in terrible shape moving forward.

I still think if they put him in the right role they may get enough out of bogo for someone to take that contract. Its a long shot but nothing to lose there.
