An eight-year deal should feel painful in the first couple of years.

In five years, if he develops as everyone expects he will, you guys will be giggling about the deal all day long.

- Atomic Wedgie

That's the plan anyway!

Should be interesting to see what happens with all the young guys in Toronto now. McDavid, Eichel, and Draisaitl set the contract bar pretty high.

I think the hardest part for Toronto at this point is going to be managing the cap so they can keep as much of that young talent they have together.

Not sure. He was in the Leafs blog.

I agree with him, he shouldn't earn Eichel or McDavid money on his next deal.

Marner/Nylander should match Ehlers deal as well.

Fair all around.

I think it's possible. But, I'm going to put him in the 80-90 point range. Not because he doesn't have the ability, just because 100 points is tough for anyone in the league to do these days. There was 1 guy that managed last year, McDavid. And it was exactly 100 points.

I have him in three fantasy leagues.

That would be nice, but I will take full blame if things go south.

The best way for Jack to get anywhere near that number is to have some consistent line mates and build solid chemistry.

If Kane and Pomminville can replicate the game at Penn State for 80 games.. I think we could see him creep up there.

Having lived through an era where we didn't have enough talent, I'll take our current problem, thank you very much!

I'm sure they will figure out a way. One easy fix is the Leafs (and Leafs fans) over-value 3rd and 4th liners - look at how much we are paying Komarov and Martin. $5.5 million for guys who we could easily replace.

P.S. You need to change your avatar, or quit being so optimistic. I was expecting your reply to my post to be something along the lines of, "He'll probably just get injured, or quit hockey to become a fire fighter. Oh, bother."

(Yeah, I know you just read that with Eeyore's voice in your head).

The bottom 6 is a problem for sure, but the issue is that salaries are up across the board, so it's almost hard to figure out how much those guys should be getting paid in a way.

In regards to my avatar, it's that way because of all the negativity that's around here all the time. I'm actually generally very optimistic. It was more or less a dig at all the negative nellies around here.

I think we're all a little gun shy right now. We've seen this before (Trent Edwards, I'm looking at you). Started the season off 5-1 and ended the season 6-10. We're cautiously optimistic right now.

I think more importantly is Juri Hudler is bat poop crazy:

https://www.hockeyfeed.co...s-on-international-flight

It has been reported that Hudler demanded for cocaine to a Delta Airlines employee on a flight from New York to Prague. The flight attendant has said that when his demand was refused, the forward threathed to call his friends once the plane was to land and he would get them to kill the attendant.

Hookers and Blow!

He then reportedly headed to the bathroom, came out with white powder on his lips and attempted to urinate in a food cart.

I want to party with this guy.

The "fumble" call on Sunday was perhaps the worst call in the history of sport (except for the non-call on Gretzky, of course), but having said that, I don't know, the Bills just seemed to have a weird confidence about them. I felt like they were going to win on Sunday, no matter what happened - when is the last time you had that feeling about the Buffaloes?

If the Pats can't get their defence figured out, who the frank knows, this just might be a fun ride with the Bills this year.
