Leafs have stronger save percentage with Marincin on the ice, in comparison to Rielly....so

Marincin > Rielly

I see you've been to James Tanner's school of hockey facts. Nice.

Can you please elaborate on this? Thanks

No problem Rick, avec plaisir.

Pastrnak season one 27 points in 46 games, season 2 26 points in 51 games, last year 70 points. Points per game to date is .715 (marginally higher than Nylander)

Nylander 13 points in 22 games 1st year, 61 points last year .711 points per game.

Pastrnak production significantly increased last year, as one can expect the same for Nylander this year. Both play on very good lines, Nylander would have to score 49 points in his first 69 games to match Pastrnak - IMO he does better than that.

Basically he plays for Toronto therefore he is better than players that have produced similarly or better than him.
- Feds91Stammer

No, he doesn't play for the Wings so he won't be eliminated from playoffs in February.

Oh so Pastrnak made it to the NHL when he was 18 and didn't perform as well as a 20 or 21 yo Nylander did in his first years. Got it

I've actually never had this debate with you guys. I just wanted clarification on why Nylander's numbers project higher than Pastrnak's.

They're both great players.

I knew he was going to us PPG and you can't do that with young players when one was in the league at 18 and the other wasn't - it's not apples to apples

For those keeping score at home:

Career even strength points per 60:

Nylander: 1.84
Ehlers: 1.91
Pastrnak: 2.25

Clearly Nylander is better

Who cares what Pastrnak did developing as an 18 year old? It's what both players should/will do in the future that will determine their value. Not their career PPG..

Imo both players should post similar numbers next season.... you can't expect Nylander to have a similar jump in production than Pastrnak did because he's already posting top winger numbers...... while Pastrnak had room for improvement posting only 26 points.

My guess they both get in the 70 range points this season.

We will have to wait and see, Nylander did reasonably well last year, playing on an all-rookie line. The fact that Pastrnak played in the NHL at age 18 had more to do with team situations and philosophy than ability. It would be a nice pipe-dream to hope that the 25th pick will turn out better than the 8th pick - it was a strange draft and if there was a do-over Pastrnak gets picked in the top five probably. I just think Nylander is better - you don't have to agree, nor do you have jump overboard with mocking it.
