You're right. It didn't. But you're blaming him. What about the massive (frank) up ROR had that lead to Montreal's first goal? If he pulls his head out of his ass, even with Lehner having a moment of stupidity of his own, we win that game.
Why is it that out of the 18 other guys that played tonight, the loss falls on Lehner? it's his fault?
Why couldn't one of those 18 other guys bury a freaking shot? Whether it was in regulation, OT or the SO?

It shouldn't matter when it happened. It still led to a goal. He's just as responsible. As are the rest of the players. It's a TEAM game after all.

soo true Goosie. so true. Easy to blame one early in the game while all the others fail to make up for it with so much time .
Still love the way they played. if that is gonna be thier play every game ? we will win a bunch.
You can't miss the forest for the trees. There's going to be growing pains, and there's a few line shuffling things I would do (Kane with Reino, girgs back with for, Pouliot with eichel), but honestly, we're not competing for the cup this year.
If I get to watch 82 games of exciting, uptempo hockey like that, sign me up. The crowd was pumped, the guys loved it, and we flat out dominated for stretches.
Yeah, there aren't moral victories, bit we're still .500 and this team is FUN

How about the 5 players on the PP let a soft dump in turn to a wrap around goal because they didn’t go get the puck?
In my opinion, the first game of the season is a crap shoot, as evidenced by Leafs 7-3 last night and Hawks 8-1, its really much more important "how" they played than the end result, put it this way, Yes, of course we would've all enjoyed one more goal and the Win, but this team played as a team, with speed, tenacity, skill and pride, I don't know if they will continue to play that way but I like what I see so far.
If we would've played sloppy, got hurt, or looked lost, and won would that be better?

I loved the way they played. They just need to stick with it for the whole game. What we saw today was similar to what happened to them throughout the preseason. They seem to forget for a stretch what they're supposed to do. Today it happened after the short handed goal.
Once they work that out, things should continue to trend up.
