With his speed, no reason McDavid couldn't hit 50 goals this year especially if he shoots the puck more.

Mathews should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Mcdavid.

I think the emphasis on speed, in which case, no he shouldn't. Matthews is still a hell of a hockey player though.

McDavid could hit 100 goals, and Jagr doesn't lie

I mean, if he played pretty selfishly, he probably could hit 60-70. But he makes the right play to set up his teammates who are sometimes wide open because of the chaos he creates.

Maroon would NEVER hit 27 goals, or be above 40 points playing with any other player in the league.

With Crosby i think he'd hit 40+ points, but probably not be as effective as he is with McJesus. Chia can't fall into the trap of overpaying guys that McJesus is gonna make look better than they actually are. It's hard not to have "chemistry" with a generational talent.

He's gotta pay for the core and let other players, even fan favorites, go when it's the right time. I think the Pens and Hawks have done a nice job of that for the most part.

Sign core to 5-8 year contracts and give everyone else 2 years, 3 max.

I'd love to know what his off-season training regime looks like. Not that I could ever come remotely close, but it would be fun to take a crack at his routine.

I really don't get it to be honest. You'd think there would be others that maybe don't have the smarts, but could at least skate like him.

But that’s ok. We’re happy with Auston. Someone has to be the best and it’s certainly McDavid.

Pretty much. A guy like Maroon is a good player and a nice compliment but Im not convinced that a guy like Kassian or even Khaira couldn't post similar totals for much cheaper than he'd cost us to resign. Chemistry is great, but team balance is far more important.

He's amazing. I try to stream Oilers games on NHL.tv but you are all very lucky to get to watch him in person and on TV every night. Oilers will be a playoff contender as long as he plays in Edmonton.

Exactly. As a Pens fan I hated seeing guys like Malone, Talbot, Staal, Niskanin go.... But, they proved to be the right moves.

So much of building a team is correctly identifying who is a core player, who is complimentary and who is expendable. The absolute core should be McDavid, Draisaitl, Klefbom and Talbot and the complimentary players are Larsson, one of Sekera or Nuge (due to cap hits) and perhaps guys like Strome, Benning, Slepyshev and Nurse- depending on their development and new contracts.
