That defence is crazy
2 of the top 3 .
Hamilton’s prob top 7.
Klefbom Prob gonna be top 12-15 - HB77
Klefbom still doesn't get the credit he deserves. Same goes for Slavin who I also grabbed later in the draft. |

I picked D in two of the first three rounds and then went from there. I always do well with picking forwards in later rounds and breakout candidates so I choose to focus on my blueline early to ensure I've got scoring coming from there, as well. Great scoring on D is harder to find later than good scoring at F.
Despite the D focus, I still managed to get Benn, Ehlers, Toffoli and a few other good ones to run my forward ranks.
As for my league, it's a 10 person snake draft on ESPN that goes like, 20-22 players deep iirc. - MaximumBone ehlers is the goods
Yeah -
Same for me and the boys
Espn. 10 teams snake. 22 man roster
Those last few picks are generally pretty big
Hoping Larkin can bounce back and do some damage for me. Yesterday was a good start.
Drafted namestnikov last hoping he can piggy back off stammer/Kucherov |

I don't have my full roster at my disposal so I don't remember all of who I had but I also grabbed McAvoy and Hartman in my draft because they were my breakout candidates. I already swapped out Hartman for Zibanejad a couple weeks back before it has occured to me that Hartman might play with Kane
Itll likely be fine and all, but that 5 point night really cuts deep. |

Oh, I forgot I also managed to grab Trouba a lot later than I thought he'd go. |

Upon further thought, do you (frank)ers wanna do a fantasy league? It never really occurred to me to bother asking. |

Id typically shy away from a team with Maurice and sketchy goaltending, but Trouba and Ehlers were just too tempting. |

Deal on the table ...
Hamilton and galchenyuk out
Klingberg and skinner in
This also allows me to pick up mike smith and drop lundqvist as I’ve got mony and gaudreau as well-
(kinda needed to shed a flame if I want another in smith if ya follow my meaning. 4 players from one team is far too many
Whaddya think ? - HB77
What? Are you (frank)ing high??? Wait, what was the question? I didn't bother to read your blog. |

I hope you're right, but i seriously doubt Nurse will ever the Pronger type we all hoped for when we drafted him. - Larsson_fan
I'm not expecting Nurse to turn into even half of what Pronger was. To me, he has the tools to become a solid Top 4 option if he puts it all together. Highly, HIGHLY, unlikely that he ever becomes a top pairing defender. However, if his display on Wednesday was anything of what we are expected to see from him, then this season might be a very good one for Nurse in terms of deployment, development, and CONFIDENCE.
Nurse is a marginal nhl defender at present. At best a 3rd pairing guy
There’s no consideration of nurse taking that spot anytime soon - HB77
I'm not saying that he has to become a Top 4 now. I'm more looking towards hopeful future development. He has what, two, three, maybe four years before we see Sekera go or decline. By then, I hope that either him or Jones are ready to take his place. I sincerely hope so for the sake of this team. HOWEVER, this season, to me, is a crucial one for Nurse. |

I- along with a number of others- have said it before; he's been trending hard towards the Jack Johnson end of the spectrum for a while. Not the worst thing in the world, but certainly far from the Pietrangelo some had expected out of him coming outta junior. |

Yes, hockey IQ is something you have, or you dont. That was why guys like jack johnson, and dion phaneuf peaked earlier than most would have thought. You can have a rocket, skate like the wind, and hit, but dumb is dumb. no changing that. Look at Lindstrom, mediocre shot, mediocre speed, never hit, unbelievable how he made a team gel. The puck will always move faster than the players. - bikeguy99
***This is also going towards Larsson_Fan and HB.***
Not quite stating IQ here, but rather awareness. You can always learn to play better and know what to do in specific situations, how to handle situations, and what might be the best thing to do in each situation.
IQ, on the other hand, is more so instinctive (like you guys mentioned, HOWEVER, I see awareness as apart from IQ, IMO). I'm thinking more along the borderlines of creativity and setting the bar when it comes to the highest/higher IQ level (Orr, Crosby, Roy, McDavid, Lidstrom).
Think of it like Chess, you can always learn new strategies, new methods of attacking, defending, openings, etc. You can always get better by every game played. However, when it comes to the end of a game, the guys that have the most creativity and the best instinctive tactical approaches always come out on top.
Now as for Nurse, I honestly think it's his risk assessment and situation analysis that needs to be improved. His Hockey IQ is there offensively (we has seen him join rushes, DEVELOP rushes, and chances in the past), however, his defensive IQ is meh IMO (not really creative within his own zone in terms of zone exits). HOWEVER, I think that by developing his awareness to a higher degree (remember those terrible, pointless, terrible gaffs he made last season, cause I can name a few?), hopefully capitalizing and expanding upon Wednesday's performance, he could very well be a solid player. |
