Hits in hockey happen. Using those examples Sid, Geno and JG have nothing to do with Reaves. Of course they're going to get hit it's a contact sport. They know it and accept it.

Reaves isn't there to deter hits. He's there to be physical. If there is an opposing teams player running around like an bumhole, he's there to put him in his place.

And also as has been said before, there's no way to know what would have happened if he WASN'T there. So who's to say he didn't prevent someone from doing something even MORE stupid?

Bottom line is, Reaves is 5 goals away from tying Beau Bennett's single-season Penguins' personal best for goals in a season.

Seriously, bounce back to shutout a top team in the west after getting embarrassed 10-1 and it's just blah, blah, blah, Reaves sucks, I'm so smart and know hockey so well I should be running a team, blah, blah, blah. This is starting to hit Tanner territory. The guy is a health teacher that maybe coaches peewee house league hockey, but he knows better than 90% of the NHL GMs.

How about analyzing what the Pen's did well to win the game and areas they could still improve on? Throw some fancy graphs in there, but only if they reaffirm your agenda and beliefs.

Eh, it's more nuanced than that. Reaves isn't going to stop someone from trucking a skill player, sometimes questionably, but he will sometimes make players think twice on certain plays. Like going into a corner with him. That quarter second hesitation is sometimes enough to disrupt the play, where the outcome isn't going to be what it should be. Of course, not all players think about this stuff, but some do. Especially one that may have just got trucked by him.

All that said, I find very little value in guys like Reaves, tom Wilson, etc if they aren't contributing to actual good hockey plays.

The narrative that enforcers can calm a game down or deter anything has to die. As long as no-one is peddling that bullpoop there's nothing to complain about. If you want to get guys emotionally invested in regular season games or cause some chaos then Reaves can definitely do that. We've been fine without that for 2 years with cups in them though.

I'm puzzled? Crosby took an intentional bunt end to the face (no penalty) and an intentional slash to the face (multiple penalties). For those that are anti reeves the NHL (last night and in the past) has shown no inclination to stopping this bs. I'm not staying Reeves solves the problem, but what else were the Pens supposed to do?
