That seemed to work with Vanek, Roy and Pomminville at the beginning.

They played and won together in Rochester before going to the big club.

That more or less happened because of the lockout though. The timing of that just worked out in their favor in a lot of ways.

I'd explore a deal centering around Galchenyuk for ROR. I know it's only been 4 games, and patience is a virtue, but that 7.5M cap hit is tough to swallow despite the value he can bring when playing up to his standards

I think that's kind of the plan to be honest. They want the young guys to win together and to bring that up through the NHL ranks as they make the jump.

Kind of like those teams that had Biron and Mika that won Calder cups back in the 90's.

Helps if they're on the big club in the first place. JBotts wants Rochester to succeed this year, which is why they're there right now. So far, so good as they won both of their games last weekend. Let's see if that continues tonight.

I don’t know about you but I want the Sabres to succeed first Rochester is last on my list

If he knew those 2 would not be in the big club why didn’t he make a move for key players ? He Counted on those two making the team not being in Rochester let’s be real now

Bailey and Baptiste aren't in Rochester to have a Calder Cup winner team there it's because they have serious flaws in their games. Baptiste had terrible camps, development, and training. Bailey can't finish in the NHL, all he does is rush, and flap up and down the ice not controlling his body very well, with nice speed I will add, but not much else.

So do I. I liked how he was developing and the kind of player he was and could become.

And I bet he knew Exactly they wouldn't be in buffalo this year, he came right out and said he wanted the young guys to learn how to win before they came to the big club during the summer.

Yes a first time GM with a new team should know absolutely everything about his players and prospects, while also planning the two drafts of this past offseason, free agency, and signing our guys to deals.

There is a lot of blame to go around, but the last guy that deserves any is Botts.
Even if we did know that those guys weren't ready where are all these top six wingers we could have acquired?

You could also say he took care of that issue with signing Puioliot and getting Pommer.

Yes and no. Remember, the year they played together in Rochester was the same year the NHL wasn't operating at all. Roy had played a significant time in Buffalo the season before. Vanek may have very well made the team in 2004-2005 if there was a season.

Learning how to win is such a BS thing.

You can't learn how to win. There is no course to take to learn how to do it.

You win by having more talent than the other team. If they are not up here, it is because they were not deemed talented enough to play with the big club.

yeah and when they came up during the bankrupt years

Robbie was blaming those guys for losing 3-1 and getting outshot 45 to 15

I lost most of my respect for Robbie then, kinda wished Empire had kept Blessing instead

Dude they weren't even supposed to medal in the Olympics he basically carried that whole goddamn team
And he almost beat an All-Star Canadian team

You're going to blame the dude for the AHL ?

O-5 last playoff series ? You're going to blame Buffalo luck on Ryan Miller freak accident to Thomas Vanek and that fluke 23 goal lol
