Not trusting your judgement rhimo fan. What is it that you see in 23?
- Boss34

I see a future 2nd line RW. He's had 2 seasons with 40+ pts...he was actually attacking yesterday. Wasn't rewarded, but I think he's a decent winger, but too weak to play center in this day and age. Some say he isn't NHL caliber and that is woefully incorrect.

And no need to trust my judgment. I don't.

Like your enthusiasm! Nolan scores 1 of the 5 with Jack and Kane each scoring 2.

Would love to see Nolan bag one. Maybe it was me, and the turnover was bad, but he looked to be settling in a bit yesterday. Made some good plays and almost gave Josefson a tap in with that cross ice backhand pass.

The entire point of rebuilding is to draft at the top, in what world does it not matter how the guys drafted at the top perform?
- sbroads24

I'm not saying it doesn't. But neither is Reinhart an AHL player like I read today, nor is he even a 3rd or 4th line guy.

We have a core guy that can put ~45 points up, but will never blow the doors off. I don't know why that's such a problem.

It's what we have.

We can't go back and fix it.

It's time to get past it and live with it instead of pissing in the wind.

Agree. In hockey discussions his draft status will always come up, but at the end of the day he's a 40point winger...worse players have been drafted 2nd overall, that's for sure. Got to get passed it.

I love how people said he was a 60 point player and now he's a 45 up lol ...

Sure it matters, and you always want the best guy.. But as soon as he is drafted he was ours (draft position matters no more) , pissing and moaning about how he was the 2nd pick in the draft isn't going to make him better. he's not the best 2nd pick he isn't the worst... do I wish he was better yeah... Hopefully he gets there.

Feel the same about Lehner... he is ours doesn't matter what we gave up because its over and done with.

He’s a 2nd line RW who needs to be with a good center (as of now, that can change)

I get it doesn’t need to be harped on constantly, but the dudes on pace for 20 shots on goal for the season. Kane has like 30 already

So did he turn into a big pile of crap this off season or is he not being used correctly by the new staff? Guess we will have to wait and see....

I don't think he's got the strength to play center. Yesterday was his best game of the year...at wing.

unfortunately I agree (and the unfortunately is not directed at you, I'm worried we see it, but the staff doesn't, kinda like the d-man pairings to start the year)

I think Scandella being bottom pair to start had more to do with the hip surgery IMO. No excuse on Reinhart at center, but I understand that aspect of the pairings.

It's just bad scouting and we had a Scout first GM

Florida Panthers fans and other fans freaked out when they took barkov second overall now that's some great drafting

The Blue Jackets just did it with Pierre-Luc

Take a look at some of the Sabres 1st round picks over the years:

Ennis
Myers
Zadorov
Girgensons
Grigorenko
Armia
Pysyk
Reinhart
Lehner (traded 1st for him)

And you wonder why our wheels our spinning. No impact players drafted or they are just no longer on the team.

Only impact players drafted during the rebuild years are Eichel and to a much lesser extend, Ristolainen. Im not a fan of Nylander either but i have high hopes for Mittlestadt.

It matters.

You can't change it, but it's important to be able to critique your own team's moves and understand how you got into that situation.

We are done. We way overpaid for Kyle the train wreck okposo. Ryan oreilly is not even close to a 7 million dollar player. Add moulson, gorges, lehner, larsson, joseffson and there is a lot of bad talent

I think the staff just wanted to see what he looked like at center. Hes been playing on Jacks wing for the majority of his NHL career. The minute you take him away from Jack he becomes much less effective. Im not blaming the staff yet. They need to see what kind of a player he is and what he can do in different roles. But there will come a time when they need to accept that hes at his best playing with Jack.

For how long though is the question? At this rate, we'll be talking about how bad the Peca trade was and how Pyatt was a flop.

Sometimes I wonder if I will ever have that much fun with a sports team as I did with the 2005-2007 Sabres. They set a high bar...

Had, over and done.
He still is a winger that will get you 45+ points and between 20-30 goals going forward.

Still remember going to a home game vs Vancouver in 06 (when Vancouver was a team to beat) and watching them literally skate around their good players. Hockey is cyclical, we'll climb back into it...whether or not we ever assemble that power house is a real question though. Pretty tough to have that good of a team while also getting rookies like Vanek, Pommer and Roy at the same time.
