i'm not disappointed by his play this season thus far. - dbot

They should not have signed in the first place. Bad, bad signing.

What if we make the playoffs.....?
I have zero interest in this team's success this year, only care about the development of the prospects and younger players. Barely missing the playoffs with a veteran-heavy roster isn't going to accomplish much long term. Benning better be looking to sell at the TDL, not even the apologists will be able to defend him if he doesn't.
Actually wait they probably can...
*Team is in 9-11th place at the TDL*
"You can't trade away players while still being in a playoff race, what kind of message does that send to the fans and kids?"
"It's fine, stop freaking out, Benning will trade a vet at the draft"
"I'd rather keep Vanek than trade him for a 4th 5th, other GM's need to know Benning won't bend over" - Nucker101
I agree though, if we're in the race, lets push for it, trade a prospect or two for some depth and lets aim to make some playoff nose!
jelled well with the Sedins in the past.
will be a vet presence when Sedins retire.
known to JB.
can be that net front presence. - dbot
I said this the the other day, him having chemistry with our declining 36 year old players should have zero impact on whether or not to sign him for 6 years.
Has ever worn even a "A" for any team? I don't think he's ever been known as a real leader, he's just a low maintenance vet, like Edler.
known to JB..again that's a sad reason to sign him to a fat contract.
He does score a lot of his goals from in close, but that's the problem. He's more of an "elite complimentary" player that you add to an already strong line/team as a piece to push the team to another level. He doesn't drive play and really make his linemates better anymore.
12-year contract extension worth $64 million
vs
6-year contract worth $36 million

- Lu was a HOF caliber goalie here
- Contract was signed when the recapture penalty did not exist
- They got a goalie who should have been making like 7M+ at a 5.3M cap hit during his prime, amazing value

I don't see any player's really playing that bad.
i missed that memo.
i use each season as a fresh start.
So far it's only Gagner/Burmistov/Hutton that are under-performing imo (in this very very short time period) - dbot
Hutton needs to be stronger on the puck, burm is holding things up, but thats what his name means and Gagner is a very streaky player... it is what it is. Lots more positives then negatives, I'll give dragon credit for now on the coaching front.

Gagner has been invisible.
Burmi was cheap & a role player.
Hutton has to play smarter
