It's pretty straight forward that we could have traded a late pick to keep him, for one option. I would have done that and then had sbisa as a rental for this TDL. It's all candies and nuts at this point, but there were plenty of options to insure that gaunce or boucher or some other non-roster fringe guy got picked. - neem55
Not one single poster was unhappy that sbisa was taken. You're creating a fantasy... but good trolling my good man. |

He was only offered a 2nd for him. If he'd have taken it then it would have made him a mark for future trades. Better that he held out for the first and lost him for nothing (protected guance though).

Well, I basically said everything there in one word... "rumour".

Edler Tanev EG....which one was traded & not lost cuz they hold value?
Sbisa simply was the lesser wanted D under all the ciircumstances.
Every GM could hold JB over a barrel knowing that so Sbisa & his contract in the end was why he was exposed. |

I don't really give a poop, people are generally too stupid to understand how hard it is to defend at the NHL level let alone how good a player is. they and many on here hate Edler too, because they're tools and don't really get how hockey works. I've predicted GM's will pay for Sbisa as a rental this year. We'll just have to wait and see. |

All I've said is that he could have retained him rather than let him go for nothing. Because he could have, I don't really get the confusion here. But I'll repeat myself for the 5th time. |

Its very true how some fans perceive playing D & see the mistakes without taking into consideration the entire game & what it takes to play D in the 1st place. Safe D like Tanev simplify the game at the cost of developing offensively. A Subban forte is offense with skating to try to overcome size issues that he faces to make the show.
D & G r easily ridiculed when mistakes happen & they stick out like a sore thumb to be cherry picked. The challenge to play either position explains much why its harder to just step right into the NHL like F's. Add to that patience on OJ is prudent. |

I was listening to Halford and Brough today .They were talking about they were given a 45 minute sit down question period with Benning.
They said they both got the impression that when Jim took the job it was on the condition that he would not be required to do a rebuild. He was given permission to do it his way via retool on the fly.
Not a good combination for an old team IMO. |

Lol... unhappy or apathetic?
Did you lose sleep or complain bitterly?
Did you call for jb to be fired over this huge mistake?
Or did you post once, maybe three times, saying not big deal but too bad he was taken over Guance?
MDZ 3m > Sbisa 3.7m
Yes or no?
Last year not this year?

I wouldn't go as far and say for nothing. Every team was forced to expose a certain number of players in all positions. As you saw, there was value in being available and desirable by VGK during the expansion draft. Hair splitting but true.

First of all... my debate wasn't about credit. I never said "well at least he tried"
If you want to debate from a position of whether he deserves credit or not... my position is no. I made it clear... I wanted compensation. I was disappointed.
This is what happens when you don't back read before entering a debate. - boonerbuck
That's fair but my comment was directed at Don not you. |

Nobody was going to expose one of there to 4 defenceman to protect sbisa.
Who would you rather we have exposed? Edler, tanev or Gudbranson (who was injured and couldn't be exposed)
We had to expose sbisa due to the expansion rules.
I drank the cup of milk, it's empty, not full, yes there is a small drop that spilled, I'm not gonna cry over it. Are you?

So does that mean it was Benning who was pushing for retool or Aquaman? When I head the article on the athletic it sounded like they were suggesting Benning was forced to retool. |

We do so love our bottom end players around here.... fire jb because we lost sbisa, poop.
The moaning that went on when we traded a 4th for Derrick pullout, can you imagine if we'd paid a 4th to keep Sbisa?
Dont get me wrong, I also liked sbisa but he was the ood man out, like garrison before and Mitchell before him.... dude was done. |
