Today they made it sound like it was Benning calling for the retool - VANTEL
Interesting,
Here's the quote that made me think otherwise but it's certainly not clear what he is suggesting.
It needs to be said that Leafs and Sabres management had the full support of ownership to bottom out. In Toronto, they promised there'd be “pain.” In Buffalo, the operative word was “suffering.”
Clearly, Canucks ownership hasn't been willing to follow a similar path (not intentionally, at least).
“As we're going through this rebuilding process, they want the team to put a good product on the ice, to entertain our fans that pay money to come watch the games,” said Benning.
Now, for the record, he was not complaining. “The ownership has been fantastic with us,” Benning insisted.
But he also said things like, “I don't like trading away draft picks, because I believe that's how we're going to get where we need to be.”
So I'm always going to wonder: If ownership had been open to a more aggressive rebuild, would Benning have done things any differently? |

My goal here at HB is to fire Don up, sometimes there is collateral damage
I honestly misinterpreted your comment because as you said hadn't read it clearly. I was taking a shot at Don for making the claim Sbisa had no value. |

In other news Tolvanen is tearing it up in the KHL as a teen, he has a chance to match Tarasenko/Kuznetsov type numbers. He would of been a risky pick but may end up being the most skilled in the draft. |

I was listening to Halford and Brough today .They were talking about they were given a 45 minute sit down question period with Benning.
They said they both got the impression that when Jim took the job it was on the condition that he would not be required to do a rebuild. He was given permission to do it his way via retool on the fly.
Not a good combination for an old team IMO. - VANTEL

Seems MacEwen hasn't cracked Comets line up yet. Logjam between rookies and vets apparent. Could be another factor for Dahlen short term hiatus. |

I missed that. What a steal at 30. I had him top 15. Looks like his 2nd choice in paths to the NHL is working out pretty good... Rookie of the week 3 or 4 weeks now in the KHL. Good for the Preds. They impress at the draft most years.
