I'm obviously not saying they're going to the conference finals, but just the streakiness. They had half a new team and new coach just like the Sabres do.

just watched the game on the dvr after work. here is what i saw:
they came out flying tonight. if they play like they did tonight, win lose or draw, i will have fun watching them for the rest of the season. hopefully its a step in the right direction. jack eichel was a beast, could have won us the game on his own tonight with a good bounce or two. everyone that thinks the goals pomminville has scored this year were just kick ins and anyone would have done the same needs to watch that griffith set up over and over again. if that was pommer its a guaranteed one-timer, back of the net, game tied, without hesitation. (frank). evander kane, that penalty that led to the third goal was flat out dumb and he does that dumb poop all the (frank)ing time. (frank). if you sign him you will sink with him imo. i thought ror looked slow but he had a good game he just didnt get on the score sheet. the fourth line looked great they were all over it. sam reinhart, well, was sam reinhart and i dont have an answer for him to stay on his feet.

lehner is absolute garbage. he is constantly falling on his face. forget the plays that resulted in goals, and all the stat lines, he is fundamentally flawed. basic fundamentals! the first thing i was ever taught as a goaltender was balance. from day one there was a drill where a coach will have you take a stance and push on your chest/back with his stick. if you fall over youre not in proper position. i seriously wonder if he has ever seen this drill. i swear if a feather were to fall on his back he would fall over. every time he moves laterally or is in traffic he usually falls forward, so much so that i dont think its fixable at this point. even on the most basic of plays you see him off balance and falling forward. i cant help but be furious at it because he is just downright horrible. good goaltenders are always in a position to anticipate and follow the play while maintaining good body position and he just cant/doesnt. ever. i am so beyond done with him. just watch him next chance you get, his body positioning is beyond awful. he makes one move with the play out of reaction and he is down and out for the count if it goes the other way. if he gets an extension after this year i will officially lose all faith in this management teams ability to recognize talent at that position.

If that meets your definition for coming out flying, I don't want to see what it looks like to come out flat. Probably the most I've noticed ROR since the season started, but that isn't saying much and didn't result into anything different. Nice desperation by Sam on the face off that led to the empty net goal. NOT. Kings last two goals came after a timeout when Sabres had a chance to draw up a play and both goals scored immediately after faceoff. Hard to believe at least 3/4 of the team regressed.

4 games without a friggin point. They didn't go more than 3 without a point last year. Gibson is hurt so should be seeing Berra tonight. It's now or never.

They came out flying ? Yeah only in the first period They could’ve easily took over the game if they didn’t fall asleep at the wheel in the second period ..

It was pretty painful to watch the second and third when the LA Kings completely controlled the whole game after that and just kept on cycling the puck and we looked like (frank)ing amateurs

He does have a penchant for letting in a softy to be sure, which can demoralize a team.
That said, not going to win many games putting up 2 goals a game.
The futility on the PP us perplexing. Maybe the coaches should watch last years unit to see what worked so well and implement that.
And, as we knew going in...the wingers on this team are subpar.
I do think they need to consider the center depth the team has and the need for a couple of snipers.
As much as I would love to believe Nylander is a future one based on pedigree mostly, his development to date has been non-existent and now further delayed due to some sort of injury.

The frustrating part for the fans, and I don't blame Botts is that it will take him 3/4 of the season to evaluate what he has here and be ready to start making deals...based on what he said during the offseason.
