Sticking a young player on a line with two vet plugs, giving him 6-8 minutes a game, and then gluing their asses to the bench at critical moments is not what some people had in mind when they said 'play the kids'.

When I bought season tickets, upper bowl second row cost me about $49.00 a seat per game. I had two seats.

I lived downtown so we walked to games. Had no more that three beers a game. The wife might of had one or two hard lemonades or other sickly sweet drink.

So for $150 for three hour event wasn't that bad of value, especially when they were fun to watch and the regular season actually meant something.

Why do you keep using Baertschi as an example of youth deployment? He's 25, two teams, 7 NHL seasons, and has played over 200 NHL games.

He qualifies for an NHL pension. I don't think he can be considered a young player anymore.
