I don't think anyone would have predicted LV/NJ being off to such a good start. |

I remember there was a ton of hate going around because people thought it took us out of contention for a top 5 pick, but not quite in contention to be a playoff team.
I think we finish with less points than last year. |

I always feel better about Jim Benning when I look at how Marc Bergevin has progressively made the Canadiens a worse team, kinda what Benning has done as well with the on ice product in Vancouver but no one really expects the Canucks to be good, unlike Montreal.
9 goals for them, 8 for us ha! |

I just want to be entertained during the lull until we can get back what's ours, the President's Trophy... |

Vegas I thought would ride the high of expansion team for a while. I expect a catastrophic ending though, particularly after selling off their expiring contracts.
The Devils I think are better than some realize. They had a really good offseason and I would pick their forward group and goaltending over many. Their D arent great and are in a tough division, but they should be able to pick up points |

Indeed, I thought LV would have the worst record in a decade. Shocking start. |

I remember the same, there were quite a few that were even predicting a possible bubble playoff team. Although not everyone agreed, I was (and still am) labeled as disliking the younger players, which is BS. My stance was and is, is that the younger players do not have the talent to be playing 20+ minutes. Finish top 5, draft and develop, and be realistic that there will be several struggles, until top prospects are ready. |

Small sample size, but there is absolutely no shred of evidence that leads me to believe that this team is trending in the right direction, or improve on last years totals, based on what we have seen (again, small sample size).
Edler hurt. Markstrom shaky. very high Veteran deployment.
I remember looking at some of the boxscore results from the last few games, seeing Boeser play under 8 minutes, Virtanen under 8 minutes, Stecher the least of all defenseman with Hutton right ahead of him. All the while MDZ playing near 29 minutes a night after Edler was hurt, Sutter and Dorsett playing nearly 4 mins more than Horvat and Baertschi and the Sedins and "4th" line playing next to none. I know Green likes to line match, but he essentially eliminated a line the other game and sat 2 players for the entire period (LE and Virt) |

I think the Devils will be ok. I don't think they will continue this trend of winning like they are, but I don't think they will finish bottom 5.
On a side note that I don't think has been addressed. I absolutely LOVE the fact that the Canucks have two consecutive games with lower attendance that have been lower than the lowest attendance last year. This is the only way that fans truly show ownership their distaste and disinterest in a boring/unentertaining team. Everyone knew it was going to get bad before it got better, but I am glad that FA is seeing it first hand |

why is this such a contentious issue for a rebuilding team?
rebuilding teams lose. they don't need rookies to lose if those rookies aren't ready.
rebuilding teams suck and the product on ice usually sucks.
suck it up butter cup. |

I would hope they would show a bit offense or bite if they lose, that's all I care about. If Canucks lose 50 games this year, but make it as exciting as the first game against EDM, I won't gripe at all. But to lose like they did to Ottawa, or most recently Calgary, they are just the worst type of games to watch.
To be honest though. I have so much invested into Dahlin, I want him to be a future Canuck so bad, so losing definitely isn't as hard to take when you know he is a potential consolation prize for the losing |

sad to say but losing is more important than losing the right way.
let's be honest about attendance though. an "exciting" product will only marginally draw more fans.
the "fans" in this town will only fill the place when it's winning or trending in the right direction.
where the team is right now, that is at least a couple of years off.
some of us have been saying that this pain is unavoidable. the only part that was avoidable was when.
well, let me tell you... winter is here. |

They will be a tweener for sure
Agreed, love the poor attendance. The scarf giveaway really highlighted untouched seats, showing that it isnt people in line somewhere in the causeway they just were empty. I am hoping the effect is just lower prices and not to stray from drafting and developing properly |

success and promise will bring the fans in. What we have seen over the last few years certainly wont. Fans want to see their draft picks develop and make debuts. They want exciting hockey, and most of all they want to see the team succeed on a nightly basis.
I know many fans will disagree, and I won't not watch the canucks despite their boring hockey or losing, but I just really want Dahlin. He is the potential dynamic defenseman that the Canucks have NEVER had. |

But is Dahlin really the next Karlsson? A guy like Karlsson comes along as often as Crosby or McJesus...

I have always had issues with ticket prices. I have been fortunate enough to have my boss own season tickets in the lower bowl, so going to see the Habs and Canucks over the last 5 years has cost me 100 bucks instead of 1400. Lower ticket prices, lower food and beer costs, bring excitement through scoring and being competitive and fans will start to show up again. |
