I think they should also focus on figuring out a 4F-1D set up. The D are already offensively challenged, putting 2 of them on the PP isnt going to help much - WhiteLie

I love it. The low attendance is the biggest middle finger to FA that we as fans can extend - Codes1087
As long it keeps pushing for a proper rebuild. The article references how Buffalo and TO promised "pain" and "suffering" for their fans. I fear FA doubles down on free agents, etc. to sell that exciting product |

Well there it is.
Aquilini is a shortsighted idiot that should stick to real estate investments instead of trying to do what so few teams have, rebuild while trying to make the playoffs with an old, stale core. #Torts4GM
Thanks WhiteLie - Nucker101
Real estate asks you cover a few flaws in a cost-effective manner by slapping on a new coat of paint, not stripping down to the foundation

Yes, someone posted this. Pretty clear Aquilini wants to dress a competitive team to entertain the fans. The problem is, young star players are exciting not old slow Vets. Quite a dilemma. We badly need to get some luck next draft. - CanuckDon
I've said this before myself, he can't afford the seats to get to be too empty or else his empire will start to crumble. He's leveraged his company and the Canucks are the only thing still keeping him afloat. |

What's the dilemma? Even if the team wins more games than expected and finishes 9th or 10th in the conference, I doubt people are lining up to see Senior Sedins, declining Edler/Eriksson/Vanek, shutdown Tanev and a bunch of other middle 6/bottom 6 players.
Fan interest is dwindling anyway, so they should stop caring about current ticket sales and just do what's best for the team and eventually fans will come back since...
making good decisions = good team eventually

if the Canucks and FA were smart, they would start to rebrand this offseason.
Sedins are gone. Give Bo the C. Remove the Orca. Stick in the rink w/ blue and green. Commit to youth and speed and skill and really convince the fans that we are heading in the right direction. |

Cull had some good things to say about both players. Also, both are killing penalties, good sign. - Renidrag
That could be coming down from JB to Cull. Ice time & play D for call ups or improved value if any deals made. |

I remember the same, there were quite a few that were even predicting a possible bubble playoff team. Although not everyone agreed, I was (and still am) labeled as disliking the younger players, which is BS. My stance was and is, is that the younger players do not have the talent to be playing 20+ minutes. Finish top 5, draft and develop, and be realistic that there will be several struggles, until top prospects are ready. - Makita
Well said. I struggle to put it that way when peepz talk play the kids, why sign him, Sedins this the D that. Most of here join the circle jerk far too often.
Win lose or tank its the silver lining we need to search for.
Top of the list for me is where the offense from D come from?
Want to see results from uptempo style as the season wears on.
Are BB JV Stecher settling in better & getting better?

the couple of games i've seen, it's amazing how involved he is on every play.
it seems that whenever he's on the ice, he has the puck or is the primary defender. basically, he's within a stride of the puck at all times. (exaggeration but that's what it felt like for 90% of his shifts) - RealityChecker
My take on Dahlin is a great skater great edges & a flair for offense.
All great on the big ice no doubt but against bigger & faster NHLers on small ice how will that translate? His size & D play will be as important & on many accounts that seems not an issue. On the PP he would upgrade us immensely so that alone is why we need him. If we can project him into a 50-60pt scorer & thats realistic he is 1oa IMO.
So what if we don't get him?
Is another winger as in BPA Svechnikov a part of the answer for us?
Lets say yes for now & what domino effect it creates if any?
Can we put our eggs in one basket with Bo EP & Gaudette being our C's longterm?
I think i can live with that possibility & EP could end up a winger if size hurts him.
The way Lind is shining thats another good looking prospect coming along.
Gadjovich is next up & gets the greasy goals & has the size & toughness to fill a role maybe top 9 orvpossible top 6 3rd wheel. Whats ppl thoughts on that? Palmu is harder to project but he could replace Sven easily enough & cheaper at that on an ELC if he can make the jump to the NHL. Dahlen & Goldy r definitely intriguing. Goldy is further along & if he can round out his game much better TG might have more confidence with him. Dahlen is still only 19 & exciting for our hopes. Demko we all know about. |

Tickets are affordable, but unless you live downtown there's also parking. Then there is food and beverages. Even when I had tickets it always cost me at least $100 to go to a game. - golfingsince
Skytrain it in & juice up across the street at the bar 1st lol.

Last few times I've been so unimpressed by the lack of passion. Just so quiet for a hockey game. I don't get it at all. In the 90's it was go home with a hangover and a hoarse throat from yelling and heckling. Not sure when we became so polite, but I'm not a fan. - neem55
Even the Pacific Mausoleum days fans were better. Nowadays its posers & cel phones far too often paying for seats cuz they can. Downtown arena did that. |

Great for the tank, not so much for the entertainment value. - Renidrag
Tankers expecting entertainment r unrealistic.
Suck for 82 games is reality. At times they act as draftists while still tankers.
Draftists IMO expect entertainment & see some positives while knowing we will get a highish pick. Furthing that JB must agian excel in the draft. No choice there. At times some of these ppl talk like tankers but i can agree only when its nearing the TDL.
In the end the draft is no guarantee in itself & is which GM can mine the best talent & uneath the gems that blossom. I like JB in that regard & the more picks he can get the better off we are. |

I think they'd do much better lowering concessions for the next few years. People will then get drunk enough they'll have fun regardless of the product and the rink will be full. - golfingsince

I get that Bo scores a lot off of the rush, but he could be a great net front presence on either unit. Burmistrov sucks on the PP. Gagner should be given a chance on the 2nd unit away from the Sedins..I could see him working well with Boeser.
Thanks Codes - Nucker101
Without a point threat we need anyone who can thread some passes for snipers.
Net front presence for tips & greasy goals left when Kesler was dealt.

With you on that but getting 4F's out there who gel has been problematic.
Move the puck faster around the perimeter for 1 timers is all i can add.
The pretty pass down low is awesome but we cannot pull it off often enough.
Killing the PP with possession is getting stale as in 2014 stale. |
